Riko awoke suddenly from his nightmare, setting up in bed, sweat dripping from his forehead. The sheets and pillows were soaked. As he focused his eyes to the moonlight glaring through the shear curtains, he grabbed his glock and pointed it toward the window. The curtains moving gentle to the night breeze startled him. Instinctively, he glanced at the clock, 0130. "Dawn," he thought,as he sat there on the edge of the bed. All, the images, all the faces of fallen comrades, all the blood and all those goddamn rag heads filled his mind. This isn't the first time he woke to this particular horrific dream. Two tours on the sea of sand was his duty. He gladly volunteered to defend his country and would do it again if needed. However, he didn't ask for these memories and would give them way in a New York minute if possible. But now, all they do is keep him awake, alert to what is going on and kindle the hate for terrorists within him.

Gunnery Sergeant Reiken, Riko to his commanding officer and men, looked across the fields of his family plantation from his bedroom balcony. The sun was slowly rising up over the tree line and fresh air dabbed with the scent of the morning dew made him smile. "This is why I went, why I chose to defend my country," he thought.

Reiken plantation had been in the family for ten generations. Huge place with 268 acres of farmland and woodlands. Bluewater creek flowed along its edge. There was the main house, a two story log home with four bedrooms and three baths. This was not the original home. It was burned down years ago because it was unsafe. Riko, had built this modern home from timber off the property and made sure it had all the modern conveniences. The property also had every thing one would think a plantation would have, a smokehouse, barns, stables, a blacksmith and a mill. All of which, have been reconstructed and modernized with the latest materials and technology. Yet, Riko lived alone. Using natural stones from the quarry and the creek,Riko constructed a 10-foot tall by 3-foot wide wall all around the property. With only one entrance, it had lookout towers every 100 yards. The property was totally self-sufficient, totally fortified and totally off the grid.
