"A car crash?" I asked as I watched Taehyung sadly. I guess I could understand how he felt. I had lost my brother in a car crash too. From what I heard from my parents, oppa was going to spend his last weekend with us at Caribbean Bay before leaving for London to further his studies. They told me that the doctors were unable to find the cause of his death until later when they sent him in for thorough inspection did they find out that it was tiny glass shards causing his death.
"Yeah. We were on our way to Caribbean Bay that time. My parents joined this organisation called Peaceful Families and the organisation were holding a Family Day at Caribbean Bay," My ears perked up. It sounded like a story that my parents had told me before.
"Are you talking about the Peaceful Families organisation that got disbanded by the government because of their cheating schemes for money?"
I watched as Taehyung's eyes slowly grew wide before nodding. "How did you know that?"
I shrugged and replied him casually, but still curious about Taehyung's mother. "My parents used to tell me all about my accident which caused me to lose my memories. I was about thirteen that time,"
But instead of watching Taehyung nod. He stood up and stared down at me seriously, almost looking as though he was glaring at me. I dropped my fork in shock as I stared at him. He grabbed my shoulders tightly and stared at me with his eyes filled with tears. Behind them, I could see passion and another something that I couldn't put my finger on.
"Do you remember? Do you remember anything?" He asked as the tears formed in his eyes, threatening to fall. I stared at him with my mouth open. Why was he so worked up all of a sudden?
"I get short flashbacks. Every time I get one, I faint. And when I get up, I would forget about the memory," I replied, trying to release myself from his tight grip. He saw my struggle and let go, muttering 'sorry' as he did so. I smiled and shook my head.
"But what's me remembering anything got to do with all this?" I asked, relating my situation to Taehyung's deceased mother.
"Because," Taehyung sighed and looked at me as he sat down and the tears fell from his eyes. "Because we were all in this together,"
I stared at him. I didn't understand.
"You, me and Hoseok hyung were once best friends. We did everything together. We were inseparable and that accident broke us all apart. I lost my mother, you lost your memories and your older brother and Hoseok hyung lost his memories. The both of you moved away and I tried so hard to look for the both of you," Taehyung started explaining how it all relates.
"When I moved to Seoul, I found Hoseok hyung first. We met at the basketball court and he asked me if I wanted to join in for a game. After that, I tried to make him remember. I also met Mr Jung about Hoseok hyung, but he said that he lost his memories and the doctors made the judgement that he could never remember even if he wanted to. I also found out that Mr and Mrs Jung got divorced because they weren't happy with their marriage anymore,"
I gasped. Hoseok's parents were divorced? I didn't know that.
"I kept trying to help him remember, but I failed. We then met the rest of Bangtan. It was the holidays before high school started. If I am not wrong, we met when Hoseok hyung and I went to play basketball. We had a friendly match but Yoongi hyung fell and broke his arm. We brought him to the hospital and we became friends after that," Taehyung smiled a little as he talked about the boys. I chuckled and interlaced our fingers together.
"And then the first day of high school arrived. I remembered it clear as day. The boys and I were gathered together at the gate of the school. As we were about to walk in, a familiar girl, you, walked past. I was so happy when I saw you. I wanted to call you, wanted to ask how you were doing, but when you walked past me like I was nothing, I knew then that you had also lost your memories," He held onto my hand tighter as he continued.
"I distanced myself from you whenever I saw you. I would run away if I were behind you. I never let you see me. I thought that maybe you didn't want anything from your past to be in the way of your present. Then Hoseok hyung came in the picture. He spotted you from a distance and deemed you unusual so he wanted to be friends. We all thought he was kidding so we left him alone," Taehyung tensed up. It looked as though there was something he wasn't telling me, but I shrugged it off.
"Then one day he brought you back to our abandoned hideout. I was shocked when I saw you. I thought you would have slapped him or something and leave, but you didn't. You stayed and you became friends with us. I felt happy then, because you were back into my arms. But then you distanced yourself from us again. You flew away. I felt hurt, but I decided against running to you. You needed time, I told myself again and again. And then one day, Lynna called me to go to you with toiletries and aspirin," He and I chuckled as we remembered that day. My face turned beet red when I realized that it was the day I got my period.
"I didn't mind entering the toilet and passing you them, you know? Because I was always the one who helped you with these before the accident. I would carry a bag and keep them secret in one of the pockets and when you needed them, you would always turn to me for help," I was hoping my face couldn't get any redder, but it did.
"Well, you know what happened after that. You continued to distance yourself from all of us except Lynna until yesterday. I saw you get dragged off by Hoseok hyung in the library. I contemplated on running to help you but then I saw that you weren't exactly struggling. So I left the matter at that. But I didn't expect you to run back into the library after a few minutes and crying in a corner,"
I patted Taehyung's hand. "It's okay, Tae. I guess you shouldn't continue anymore. We already know what happens after," He smiled and gripped on my hand as he pulled me closer, planting his lips on mine. I was shocked at first but I slowly melted into the kiss and closed my eyes, kissing him back.
"Hana! We're home!" Both Tae and I sprung apart as I heard my parents. We quickly brought our plates to the sink and sat back down, pretending to be having a chat.
"Hana! Where are you? Oh, there yo-" I turned to stare at my parents as they entered the kitchen. "Taehyung?" My mother asked as she slowly walked closer.
Taehyung was a little shocked that my parents remembered him. He nodded as my mother called him and smiled that cute boyish smile of his. "Hello, auntie. Hello, uncle," He greeted my parents casually.
I don't think any of us saw it coming, but my mother dropped her bags and immediately rushed over to hug Taehyung. "My goodness! I thought I would never see you again! The doctors had us move the moment Hana was discharged and we didn't even get to say goodbye!" Then my mother released him as tears fell down her cheeks. "We didn't even get to say goodbye to Tae Hee..."
I guess that hit something sensitive because Taehyung's tears fell once more. My father came near and hugged me as Taehyung was cradled against my mother, both in a crying mess along with my father. Just then, I wished I hadn't lost my memories. I wished I could remember all the pain and everything. I wish I could cry.
