I wandered the entire hospital, seeing groups of the infected undead meandering with me. I passed by locked rooms with terrified looking doctors in them, they looked even more scared when I passed by. I heard one of them scream.
"Patient Zero is loose!" Echoed over the hospital's intercom system. I heard a door open, and saw an elderly security guard hobble out. I didn't see any other zombies in this hallway, so I didn't think he was in any immediate danger, but I still worried about the old man's safety.
He began hobbling toward me, pulling out a gun that shook in his hand as he attempted to level it at me. I looked at him confused for a moment, then realized that he was planning to kill me.
"I-I'm not..." I stuttered, willing to say anything so he wouldn't kill me.
His eyes widened, he looked more afraid than before.
He put the gun down and backed back into the room, slamming the door and locking it. I'm glad he did, because no more than 30 seconds later, four zombies lurched down the hall.
A fifth one that was missing its legs dragged behind them. Streaks of the black goo stained the floor behind him.
That was without a doubt one of the most disgusting things I'd seen since I woke up in this nightmare.
I kept walking.
It felt like I walked forever, felt like I passed a thousand rooms, like I encountered a million undead.
And then my head exploded in pain.
I'd had migraines before, but never like this.
It felt as though the contents of my skull had decided that they no longer liked being there and had all committed mass suicide.
I felt like curling up on the floor and crying, but I knew if I did that it wouldn't go away, so I looked around frantically, looking for medicines that could get rid of the searing pain. I stumbled around the hallway, holding my head somehow thinking that might help.
I found a door labeled "injections closet".
I got the feeling I was supposed to come here anyway, but the pounding in my head made thinking hurt so I abandoned the thought and opened the door.
Inside there was a lot of needles with a lot of medication inside them.
Hallelujah.
I looked through the shelves, but I couldn't tell what medication was for what. I found one labeled mild sedative and, figuring that maybe some sleep would do me good, put it in my arm where the IV had previously been.
The needle was barely out of my arm when I started nodding off. It dropped out of my hand, and landed on the cold floor next to me.
That floor looked very comfortable right about now.
My head stopped hurting as much even though it hit hard against the floor, my entire body feeling numb.
I closed my eyes.
And let the darkness take me.
I assume it was a while later when I opened my eyes. I noticed that the light had changed, meaning the sun had gone up or down while I took my little nap.
I also noticed that someone was in the room with me, staring at me with his head tilted to the side, his red and black eyes fixated on me.
He groaned when he realized I was undead as well.
In appearance at least.
I glanced over at the rows of needles next to me, and saw a surprising amount labeled "ZomBioTox Cure"
Without thinking, I grabbed one and stabbed the needle into his heart, pushing in the medication.
He groaned a pained groan and fell on the ground.
