*Kayla's POV*
It was a Wednesday. The perfect day for me to be...well, me. Wednesdays are my favorite days out of the entire week. My roommate likes Wednesday, but not as much as I do.
Every Wednesday I make White chocolate pancakes for breakfast with raspberry preserves on the side. I think my cooking is the only reason my big bad roommate even keeps me around.
Today was our day off of work, so it happened to be perfect. I got off of the couch and folded up my blanket, tossing it to the side with my pillow. We lived in a small one bedroom, one bath apartment.
I quickly pulled on my fuzzy pink pj shorts and went into the kitchen to prepare breakfast. I turned on the stereo and made sure it wasn't too terribly loud. The Summer Set was the first thing to play off of my Wednesday playlist.
After I had completed my first task of the morning, I put the pancakes on the two seperate plates I grabbed. I made sure everything looked perfect before knocking and walking into Mr. Doom and Gloom's bedroom.
He was passed out in his bed, face pushed down into his black silk pillows, a little bit of drool seeping out of his mouth. The sheets were bunched at his hips and his shirt was on the floor.
I rolled my eyes at how much of a pig he was. Then again, he was my best friend and I was his. I sat the tray down at the foot of the bed and opened up his blinds just a sliver.
He stirred slightly and I went and sat next to him. I shook his arm lightly and he grumbled a bit before opening his eyes. He saw I was barely able to sit and scooted over, stretching in the process.
"Good morning Kayla." He yawned out my name and stretched his arms over his head as he sat up, making sure to keep the sheet over his lap even though he was wearing boxers.
"Happy Wednesday, Chris! I made pancakes and I even added three links of sausage to your plate by last week's request." I smiled and handed him his plate. He smiled back lazily and kissed my cheek.
"Thank you K. Anything on your agenda today?" He asked me, starting to wake up more. I grabbed my plate and began to eat.
"Mmm...not necessarily. I was going to paint my nails, go through and edit last night's photos, the usual Wednesday stuff. What about you? I thought perhaps you'd like to go to the craft store with me this evening."
I scooted up onto the bed more and leaned my back against his headboard. His room was always so dark. I never understood how he lived in here. Then again, he says I'm light and he's dark so we're the perfect match. I think he's right.
"That sounds fun. I bet the Halloween stuff is marked down so that's actually perfect. I'll go with you, but I've got practice with the guys at 4:00, sharp. Should end around 6:00. If you're not comfortable staying home that late by yourself then you can come with."
He gave me a side glance to see how I'd react. I just simply nodded and said I would come with him. I don't like being alone for long. Chris is very understanding of that.
The room was soon encased with silence and in order to break it Chris started humming some tune. I liked to hear Chris sing, especially in the morning. He had such a lovely voice and it was rare he'd just sing.
I looked around his room as I ate breakfast. He had paintings, posters, records and awards encased in gray frames. He had baskets of dirty laundry on the floor and I made a mental note to clean them when he wasn't paying attention.
When I looked back at Chris, he'd shut his eyes and I noticed his plate was empty. I shrugged and plucked it from his hands. He groaned a little but didn't open his eyes. He had a late show last night and we didn't arrive home until around midnight.
I slowly stood up and set our plates back on the tray before I shut the blinds back and crept out of his room as quietly as I could.
After cleaning up the dishes and hand washing them, I went back into the living room and turned on the TV. I made sure to record Chris' show on cable so I could watch Bones on Netflix.
I honestly just needed background noise while I edited the photos from last night. I picked up my camera and plugged it into the laptop, downloading all of the photos I'd taken. I laughed a little at some of the ones where I'd caught one of the guys making a funny face. I always made sure to save those to my personal Favorite folder.
It had been about an hour or so before Chris decided to wake up and walk into the living room. He had put on black gym shorts. He came over and sat down on the couch next to me, looking over my shoulder at the pictures.
"You did a really good job, Kayla." He smiled and nodded in approval. "I remember when you first started out as our photographer. You were so happy to be at the festival." He laughed and I joined in.
That was the first time I'd ever been to a festival. Chris and I hit it off and became best friends on that tour. He and I would go watch Rob Zombie perform every day until tour was over.
"We dressed up practically every day!" I smiled.
That tour became the reason why Wednesdays are my favorite. We went to IHop every Wednesday and got white chocolate pancakes, which became a tradition. It marked the anniversary of when I got my first best friend.
I continued to edit my pictures as we fell into a comfortable silence. I swapped Bones over to the Office so Chris could catch up on his show. He thanked me and I nodded, putting in my headphones and going back into editor mode.
My favorite song slowly began to fill my senses and it was like everything, besides the pictures and music, faded away from me.
You were Isis
I am the myth
Oh Dionysus, you are the prison
Yeah, I wrote this suffering
