He slammed the tray down on the table. Flinching, I scooted closer to Tuesday and farther away from Kaedon.

"Man, did you see the ass on her?!" Kaedon looked towards Felix who shrugged and picked at his food quietly. "Lighten up. She was checking you out too." Laughing, he began to shovel food down his throat; daring to take some from the man sitting beside him.

Slapping his hand away, he spoke up. "You eat your own food, jackass." Uri's accent was heavy; I hadn't known where he was from until the fifth week of school when I heard him speaking Russian with his girlfriend. Uri is older than us. He's in college but his girlfriend, Katrina, is our age.

"Shut up!" Making an offended face, Kaedon crossed his arms but snuck a small piece of a pear off of Uri's tray when he wasn't looking. Kicking him, Uri began conversing in his native tongue with his more than close female 'friend.'

I felt Kaedon's and everyone else's eyes on me. "Alanna, you're extra quiet today. What's up?" Turning to look at Felix from the other side of his sister, I forced a smile; I was never good when it came to talking to him. To my crush.

"I'm alright. Tuesday's been taking care of me after all. Why?" I sunk back down and peered at my food, peeking at him from the corner of my eyes. "Besides, what could possibly be wrong?" Everyone looked at me again.

Tuesday spoke up. "Could it be those girls were bullying you again?" It felt as if Kaedon's eyes were boring into my soul; even if I wasn't looking directly at him.

"No! Of course not." I was lying. Of course they were messing with me again. I knew everyone could see through my pathetic lie; they always could. Ever since the first time those two pulled my hair in kindergarten, I haven't been able to get rid of them. They sure have turned into snotty bitches alright.

"Stop lying you little brat." Felix reached over from the front of Tuesday to roughly mess up my hair like always; I loved it when he did that. Swatting at his hand, Kaedon shot a smooth, un-obvious glare at him. Coughing slightly, he went back to his cool pose.

Suddenly I became uncomfortable, wanting to get up and go get some fresh air; and by fresh air I mean run to the girls bathroom and hide from the boys. Slowly I began gathering my things. "We'll boys, and girls, I decided to go get some air. Fresh air."

"And I should go head back to where I belong." Uri stood up, stretching and giving Kaedon a 'manly' punch in the arm. Having a fast paced make out session with Katrina he left, heading back to attend his classes.

Standing a gathered my things and slid my tray under Tuesday's and removed myself from the god awful bench attached to the table that was definitely meant for tiny toddlers; we were too big for it. "I'll be taking my leave now. See you all later." Giving a quick wave I started trying to rush off towards the door of the cafeteria, hoping to reach my art class before the bell rang; I enjoyed being first in class.

Half way to the door, I heard someone from the table I was just at make an attempt to get up while grabbing for their things; causing a ruckus everybody else ignored.

"Hey, Lani, wait up!" Turning my head I found Kaedon had followed me. I knew that we had art together, I just didn't know he wanted to be first like I always was. Behind him I found Tuesday eyeing us then quickly turning to converse with her brother when noticing I saw her eyeballing us.

"Um, hi." Awkwardly walking on, he walked beside me. We casually talked small talk. I always had to look up at him since he was a great deal taller than I was; I was 5'7" and he was 6'3". He seemed to feel awkward being alone with me. His dark green eyes looked slightly worried; probably about the upcoming game this weekend. At least I assumed that's what it was.

We stopped at the door of the art room, standing there in front of each other. I could feel a burning sensation in my cheeks as my face seemed to begin heating up. Cupping my face, I stared down at the floor, afraid I would somehow manage to embarrass myself. "We still have ten minutes at least. I'll be heading into class now. See you there." Before I could turn, I heard one of the most disgusting sounds ever.

"Well, well, look who it is. The ugly girl with no social life." Laughing, Amanda and Cady pushed me. Kaedon suddenly seemed to become defensive; his eyes filled with hate and disgust.

Grabbing me by the arm, he moved me behind him, not letting the girls touch me. "Oh, is the big bad boy going to protect the weakling?" Taking a step closer to him, Cady's boyfriend stepped in out of nowhere. His fist flew, hitting Kaedon in the Jaw. Stumbling back, the Amanda and Cady let out the most obnoxious squeal in both fright and excitement.

"Don't touch my girl, quarterback." Pushing me to the side, Kaedon punched Raiy straight in the nose as hard as possible, garnering a loud crack. Amanda and Cady had pulled me to the side, away from the fight when started to pull in a crowd. The started spitting out rude comments and threats, throwing me around. They took it upon themselves to rip my library books here and there and knocking the things from my hand.

The last thing I remembered before blacking out was being shoved into the wall; hitting my head on the corner of a glass case filled with trophies. Kaedon broke through the crowd, everything seemed to be in slow motion as my vision got blurry. Sliding down to the floor, Kaedon threw himself in front of me, harshly shoving the girls away from me.

Finally; darkness seemed consume my being. I was gone.
