Locked inside the prison
of school holidays
inspires recklessness
in rebellious youth.
The smell of butter chicken
wafts from open skylights
and inspires teenagers
to climb onto the school roof.
Abandoned hula hoops
and tennis balls
are lost treasure
of damsels in distress.
The algae filled gutters
are neglected fish tanks
and the rain on the iron
kisses my skin.
The sound of sirens
shatters the monotony
as the thrill seekers
escape from the shackles
of their own creation.
