In that moment, everything went numb, after those three words were spoken, her brain shut down, unable to process anything or think anything besides those three words. They were like a broken record playing over and over again. "I have cancer," nothing. "They say I have a year, maybe two at most, but even that's a bit of a stretch." Silence...

"Damn." Was all she was able to get out.

Her friend laughed, she actually laughed, "I think it's probably more of a fuck."

She shook her head, letting out a short humorless chuckle, then looked at her friend -her best friend, no, her platonic soulmate, the one who annoyed her to no end, but she wouldn't have it any other way- and said, "Fuck indeed."

"Yup."

"Is it wrong that I'm only thinking selfish thoughts right now? Dyllan, you can't leave me, we haven't even done half the things we said we would do together in our lives. I'm sorry if I'm being selfish but I really can't help it." She whined to Dyllan.

"Andrea, it's fine. I honestly didn't expect anything less. I mean this in the nicest way possible, but, you're a selfish person, that's just who you are, and it's fine, I love you still, no matter what." She said.

"But I don't want to be selfish not for you, not right now. I can't even imagine what you're going through right now."

"I'll be fine. We'll be fine, whatever happens we'll get through it. Together forever, or as long as time will allow us."
