When I wake, the plane has landed, and I check my phone to see what time it is, but get distracted by the fact that Mark texted me. His message tells me that his plane landed about an hour ago, and that he'll wait for me to arrive. First floor, right next to the door. I look out, and see that we've landed. I wait for the ding to go off, and I leave the plane.I walk in, and he doesn't see me at first, so I text him to let him know I'm there because I'm not the biggest fan of wandering around like an idiot.
Me: I'm standing at the door. Be a gentleman and come get me and carry me off into the sunset
Mark: Okay, be there soon. Gotta get my horse first
He turns and sees me at the door, and nearly runs to me. I smile, and he stops directly in front of me. I think that he's going to hug me, but he doesn't and says, "I'd hug you, but there may be fans here and I don't want anything to get started up. I'll hug you when we get to my house," he laughs. "My mom is here, though, so lets go. When she asks the questions, I'll text you what to say, because she may put you on the spot, but I could be wrong we'll just have to see."
We walk out to meet his mom, and she immediately hugs him, and I stand awkwardly to the side. This goes on for about three minutes. He finally pulls away, and turns to me. "Mom, this Bri. Bri, this is my mom." I look at her and smile, stretching my hand out to meet hers. She takes it and looks at me carefully. I try to keep my head up, but I drop it quickly enough. She smiles and tells me I'm very pretty, and I blush deeply. She turns back to Mark, and asks, "Are you and her dating, Mark?" He looks at me somewhat panicked, so I try to save him with, "Ma'am I really have to use the restroom, and I'm not a fan of public restrooms, do you live close?" She forgets her current question, for a moment, and says yes, that we can leave now.
In the car, she asks me this time, if he and I are dating. Mark texts me quickly saying, "You could say yes, if you'd like, but that is ultimately up to you. I would like if you said yes." So I tell her that we are together, and she then asks, "How long have you been together? Do you live in L.A.? Why didn't I know about this?" She had turned her attention to Mark, asking him these questions instead of me."Mom, I just haven't told anyone yet because I didn't know if it was going to last. So far we've only been together for a few weeks."
I assume he's telling her that because that's how long we've been talking.
"No, she doesn't live in L.A. That's why she's here... She lives in Alabama. This is the first time we've met in person. I wasn't sure how she'd feel just coming to be alone with a man that she's only known for a while and only been dating for such a short time, so I figured it'd be better for her to come and meet you, Thomas, his wife, anyone else. Something that I thought would make her feel more comfortable meeting me for the first time other than Skype and phone calls and texting."
His mother nods understandingly. She looks at me through the rear-view mirror, making eye contact while asking, "Do you plan on staying with him, Bri? Do you really like him?" My phone doesn't buzz, so I assume he wants to know my answer as well. "Yes, I do plan on staying with him from what I can tell right now. And yes, I do really like him, ma'am." She smiles at me, and looks back to the road.
When we get to her house, which was not close like she had said, I try to get my stuff out, but Mark stops me and gets the bags for me, which leaves me standing there awkwardly. I walk in behind him, and there are a lot of people here, I recognize his brother, and Bob and Wade, but that's really it. They don't see me at first so I stand behind him while they all exchange hugs. Wade is the first to come up to me, and he says, "Hey, I'm sure you know who I am, since you were a fan of Marks, but I've heard quite a lot about you in the past few weeks. I'm sure you know Bob too, and he knows a good bit about you too." I look over and Mark is hugging his nephew. I don't really know what to say, so I laugh awkwardly, and try to say, "Thank you, I hope it's all been good." I eventually get it out, but in a stuttering mess.Later on, Mark introduces me to the rest of his family.
"Okay everyone, I'm sure you've all met her by now, but just in case she was too shy to say anything, this is Bri. She'll be here for my entire stay with me, so get used to seeing her around because I plan on being here for quite a while."
Everyone accepted it, and we go to his bedroom and unpack all my things. I ask him if he'll stay here in his mom's house so I won't be alone. He says yes, but I quickly say, "I don't mean here in the bedroom with me, but if you want to that's okay too, depending on what you want, I mean it is your mom's house-" he cuts me off with, "Bri, I'll happily sleep in here on the floor if that's what you'd like. I don't say anything, I just now. "But tonight, I do have to talk to you about something."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just an A/N, it has been about a month since Bri and Mark first met, I know that wasn't clear, but he says they've only been together for two weeks because that's how long they've been talking regularly. I know things are moving fast, but what can I say? I'm not that great a writer. Anyway, thank you guys for reading, I hope you've been enjoying this!
