It was midnight. I was walking around Godric's Hollow. I couldn't sleep. I was having a recurring nightmare about what happened a short while ago. We all announced spells at once and she happened to get in the middle. Sweet Ariana suffered for our wrong-doing...
I heard a rustling to my right in the bushes. I stopped walking. My intuition told me who it was. "Gellert," I said softly. "I know your there."
Out jumped Grindelwald. "Hello Albus. I've missed you." I said nothing.
"A shame you never joined me. We had a whole plan and I bet you would have joined me if-"
"If she haven't died," I cut in.
"Yes but that's in the past. Join me Albus. Join me, we can take over the world together." He smiled at me, a smile I recognize from a while back.
I didn't respond.
His smile turned to a scowl.
"Gellert, before you go-"
"No Albus. There isn't even any mistletoe."
I took out my wand, not avoiding his gaze. With a wave of my wand, there above our heads, was mistletoe. I looked at him longingly.
"Albus..."
I reached up to put my lips against his. He made no hesitation until they touched for not even a second. He pushed away the minute they touched.
"Albus, stop. I can't do this."
With a somber face and a wave of my wand, the mistletoe was gone. And with it, the love of my life. I walked on.
