A New Hero

Chapter 12

(Mist's point of view)

It was a brand new day. We all woke up with the smell of waffles. After we ate we headed outside to practice our abilities.

"How do we practice using our abilities?" asked Colleen.

"This is how it works. I pair you guys up and you fight each other. If anyone gets hurt, I'll heal them. Colleen with Claire and Ariana with Elle," I explained.

"But Claire can't do anything else but to regenerate," Ariana crossed her arms.

"She could also generate electricity. She is new at it. That's why I'm letting you guys practice." Mist looked at Claire who nodded in response.

I saw them all fighting one another with full strength. We all finished when we were breathless and sweat soaked our clothes.

"We've been fighting for two hours, but  I enjoyed it," exclaimed Colleen. They all agreed.

We all headed inside for some refreshments, but I felt something.

"Guys, I think someone is here," I pointed out, feeling a bit queasy.

"What do you mean?" Colleen asked concerned.

"I mean that there is someone else in this house that has a power." I placed a hand on my forehead, which was pounding. 

"Well we all have powers." Colleen gestured to Elle and Claire with her hand.

"Well there is....." I couldn't finish my sentence. I dropped down to my knees and held myself up with my hands. Everything was blurry.

"Are you okay, Mist?" Elle, Claire, Ariana, and Colleen were all hovering around me. My eyes started to glow purple. My eyes kept on flickering off. My heart started beating out of my chest. I clenched my shirt with my fist.

"Claire....call...my...mom..."

"Sure, Mist." She dialed my mom's number and the phone rang twice. No answer. Then my mom appeared out of nowhere.

"Mist," her mother said in a worried tone.

"Can you help her?" Claire's eyes glimmered with tears.

"Yes. I was in this same exact position." My mom walked toward me. "Mist. Let it out."

"Let what out." I looked frantically at my mother who stood by me.

"The elements. Like the show Avatar you watch."

"Why?"

"You have the power of the power of the elements." I decided to follow her instructions and let all my anger out.

"Everyone back up as far as you can. She is about to explode," My mom exclaimed. They all hid behind a metal ramp.

I started to unleash a ring of fire and lava spew out of the ground. Then I controlled water and I extinguished the flames and turned the water into ice. I blew a gust of wind and made mountains of earth. Then I went down to my knees again and my eyes turned white and then normal. It was too much power for me that I fainted. "Will she be okay Mrs. Blue?" Ariana's voice shook.

"She'll be fine."

I woke up a couple hours later in my bedroom. "Where am I?"

"You are in your room," my mom informed. Everyone was there in my room. "Can you guys give us a minute please?"

"Sure Mrs. Blue." They all left my room and I became fully conscious.

"What happened?"

"You were controlled by a dark spirit."

"How do you know this?"

"Okay Mist. I wanted to tell you this when you turned 25, but it's time. I am not your mother." My eyes widened. If she isn't my mom, then, who is?
