a/n: GRAB. SOME. TISSUES. this is my head-canon sort of on how Buck felt during this

Bucky P.O.V

"I had him on the ropes."

"I know you did." Was Steve's sassy comeback as we looked for Zola, the Hydra Scientist.

We began to catch our breath when we heard the sound of another Hydra weapon powering on.

"Get down!" Steve shouted while bringing his shield up to protect the both of us. The shield deflected the ray beam and made the  wall of the train fall back.

I looked around for Steve, "Steve?" I called worriedly after seeing him on the floor barely moving.

How dare they?

I picked up his shield.

I promised to always protect you.

I fired at the Hydra bitch but didn't get a single bullet in.

I promised to never let anything or anyone hurt you.

The Hydra soldier restarted their ray beam tesseract and pointed it at me.

Stay safe.

"Bucky, no!"

The beam was deflected by the shield but the force sent me flying out of the train.

I screamed while my hands found something to hold onto.

I couldn't see what was going on but I heard the sound of Steve's shield hitting something and oh no he's making his way towards me

"Bucky!"

My mind and my body began to cooperate and I found myself trying to get closer.

"Steve!"

"HAng ON!"

"Stevie."

"Bucky please!"

"Steve! Steve I'm scared!"

"Bucky, you're not gonna fall! I won't let you!"

"Steve!" I cried out when my hand slipped.

He got what we probably both hoped was close enough, "Grab my hand!"

"Steve I'm so scared. I'm so fucking scared."

"It's okay. Grab my hand."

I let go to reach out when I felt the bar move under me.

"No!" Steve cried out as I slipped out of his reach.

I screamed.

I screamed the whole way down.

But about halfway down, instinct kicked in and I tried to break my fall with my left arm.

I hit the forest floor with a hard smack and my ears were ringing.

I felt warm blood pooling my left side.

No don't look over, you're not gonna like what you see.

But curiosity killed the cat and I'm on the same path so it can't hurt to look.

I turned my head painfully in the direction to look over the damage of the fall.

Holy fuck. Shit what the fuck. Oh my God oh my God

My whole left arm, gone. Not clean off because there were bits of my bicep left but shiiiiit

Every time I blinked, my vision became foggier and my breathing began to slow.

I did hear one thing however.

When the train passed over I said, "Goodbye Steve."

But my voice was quiet and very hoarse.

"Take care of yourself. Don't get yourself fucking killed." My voice cracked, talking takes a lot of energy out of a dying person, even if it's to yourself.

I coughed up blood and let it pool to my chin.

A single tear left my eye.

My body began to shut down in different places.

First I lost the feeling in my legs.

Then I couldn't feel my hand, my single hand.

To breath I had to cough a bunch of other shit up.

But then there were shouts and other voices.

Fuck

"Help!" I tried shouting but my voice was groggy.

"Zdes'!" I heard people shout.

(Russian for 'over here')

"Ya nashel yego!"

(Russian for 'he's over here')

Oh God, Russians. Okay I'll be nice but as soon as shit gets weird I'm finding Steve you fuckers.

There was a very well dressed and fuzzy clothed scout-looking person on my right and one in front of me looking me up and down.

"Amerikanskiy, Soldat. To chto zhestokiy sposob chtoby vernut'sya na Kapitan Rodzhers."

(translation. 'American Soldier. What a cruel way to get back at Captain Rogers.)

Wait, that sounded like Captain Rogers.

I started breathing heavily at the realization of the situation and and fuuck.

One of the Russian scouts kneeled down to my level.

"Can you get up?"

Can I get up? Can I get up? Are you fucking kidding me? I just fell of a fucking train and these shits want me to what? They want me to get up of course.

"No." Was my very hoarse reply.

Now I'm being lifted onto what feels like a stretcher and an anesthetic injected into my neck.

Vision began to blur and darken and my body feels actually kind of relaxed but so cold at the same time.

Whatever it is they'll do to me, I hope it doesn't come back to hurt Steve.
