I forced a smile, pulling my arm out of Nora’s grip, “of course I am. Just got a little…lost.” I finished weakly, cursing inwardly at my lack of excuse.  I looked like I had been dragged through a forest by my hair.  The smell of flowers tickled my nose and surrounded my head with a purple haze, my eyes turned misty as my brain shifted into autopilot.

“There you are Kasey, I’ve been searching everywhere for you!” a sweet soft voice echoed through my head, I forced myself to swing my head around, feeling as if every movement was fighting through a wall of syrupy bindings. A short willowy girl came floating up; her lavender dress flowed around her like a wispy cloud enveloping her pale skin glittering luminescently in the flashing neon lights skittering across the tiled floor.  Her large blue eyes stared up at me as she flashed me a white smile, I lethargically noticed that her small teeth were sharpened.  I blinked in a manner that felt as if I was peeling my eyes back open before turning back to Nora who eyed the newcomer suspiciously.

“Hi,” the fairy-like chirped enthusiastically, her blonde hair floating around her head in silky ringlets that I urged to touch, “I’m Faya. Pleased to meet you.” She curtsied then grabbed my arm, gently pulling me away from Nora whose eyes narrowed on us.

“Hurry hurry” Faya muttered softly under her breath that smelled like oranges.  She pushed me out to the front of the club and quickly into a white Rolls Royce.  My eyes were slipping closed; I caught the glimpse of a head of curly blonde hair and a voice reprimanding this Faya girl.

“You used too much. She’s going to sleep” he snapped, his voice impatient.

“Oh be quiet Syna, she’ll wake up soon,” Faya snapped back before I slipped into a heavy sleep.

“My my but she does look sort of plain. Nothing what I would expect of an elementalist.” A girly voice swirled through my glittery dreams.

“I think she has potential. She’s just a bit rough around the edges.” Another girly voice, similar to last poured its way in.

I clawed my way out of the lethargic dream, forcing my eyes to open to the blinding light that threatened to blind me.  I groaned, rubbing my throat as I pulled myself up.

“She’s awake!” the voices said in unison, my eyes finally opened only to find two pairs of identical ice blue eyes staring curiously at me. I flinched at their nearness, pushing back into the mattress, away from their blonde beauty and back into my seclusion.

“Um” I stated intelligently looking around the starkly white room furnished with gold pieces.

“Flora go get Syna, he’ll want to know she’s awake.”  I watched warily as Faya’s twin hurried gracefully from the room, before turning back to Faya.

Her chin length golden hair curled around her heart shaped face as she watched me through curious icy eyes.  I swallowed, clenching my fists, silently wondering how to escape and cursing myself forever leaving Dorian’s apartment.  As much as he infuriated me, at least I knew I wasn’t going to be some part of satanic ritual or sacrifice.  The thought of being sacrificed made me wince, causing Faya to shift her head to the side.

I was about to ask where I was when the golden doors swung open and Flora glided back in followed by a tall wiry man with flaming hair.  I bit back a snarl, “Marcus” I spat out.  I never did like him; I could still feel the acidic heat from his hands as he grabbed my arm in a vicious grip.

His eyebrow rose, “I’m not Marcus, my name is Syna.” He ran a hand through his flaming head of curls and took a step towards me.  I rushed out of the bed, my legs being caught in the sheets, slamming me down to the granite floor with a painful thud.

I winced but crawled to the wall, “stay away” I snapped, hugging my arms around my legs.

“Kasey calm down, we’re here to help,” Faya soothed, flowing towards me a swirl of lavender chiffon.  My eyes followed her rhythmic movement, my eyes growing heavy, my breathing growing deeper.

I faintly heard Syna’s deep voice, “call Dorian, get him here now. This isn’t turning out like I had hoped,” before slipping unwilling into another deep sleep.  His name whispered across my mind like a soothing respite in an intense heat.
