Maybe Next Summer

Chapter 1

I was five, when Eli and I first met. It was when I moved to South Dakota from New Jersey. We met in the woods. Be hind our houses.

"BEEEE!" I remember Eli saying as we screamed and ran back into our yards. I was exploring our backyard when we first moved in. "Who are you?" I asked him without knowing that I had just met the guy that would change my life forever. "I'm Eli!" He said. "Oh I'm Alisha." He always used to call me A-lay-Shia, because that's the way I said my name....at five years old. It stuck with me.

That summer we did everything together. Camping, swimming, exploring, traveling, and we even went to Vermont together that year. On our way there Eli would scream Hi out the window whenever someone had their window down, which was literally every two seconds.

After summer, we went to kindergarten. I remember being so nervous for my first day of school I started crying in the lobby, Eli hugged me and told me that everything would be fine. "Alisha, I'm here it'll be okay. I'll make sure no ones mean to you" is what he said. It made me feel better, even if that's not what I was worried about.

The summer of 2002 is what changed my life. 2002-2016
