I froze and paled when he whispered into my ear. I looked over and saw my friends smirking at me, but I tried to play it off. So I laughed.
"Haha very funny," I let go of the cup of cocoa, "Here you go, Merry-"
"Uh uh, I wasn't kidding," he took a sip of the drink while smiling like an idiot.
"Well," I thought of an excuse, "You aren't playing the game, and you can't say-"
"Mistletoe!" The other girls shrieked. I whipped my head around and glared at them. I saw Charlie look at his watch.
"Well, you have about two and a half hours to get me kiss you," he looked up at me and smiled, "So I suggest you take a break from handing out that cocoa and come take a walk with me." I was pretty sure my eyes were bulging, and I lifted my hand to protest. Before I could say a word, however Nadia spoke up.
"We got this Lex," she smiled as Charlie took my arm in his, "You kids go have fun now!" She called out as he whisked me away.
I kept my mouth shut for the first ten minutes. I was pretty livid, and mainly mad at myself for losing focus. It was all his fault, and the worst part? He was the one who told me Mistletoe, which meant that he wanted to spend time with me...but why? My thoughts were flurrying through my head when he finally spoke up.
"Hey, let's go look at the snowmen the kids made!" He gave me and assuring smile as he dragged me over to the snowman contest that was set up for the kids.
We looked at all the different snowmen. There were ones that had hats, ones that had buttons, and some classic ones with a carrot for a nose. There were snowmen that were not even snowmen at all. Some kid brilliantly came up with the idea to make a snowman Snoopy from Charlie Brown. It was absolutely amazing at the talent some of these kids have. I was lucky to make a decent snowball! I took pictures for the paper as we made our way down that side of the square. The snowmen put me into a better mood, so I finally broke my silence.
"Wow, those were awesome! There are kids with some God-given artistic talent around here!" I continued to look at the fine works of temporary art.
"They really are incredible," he looked over at me, "Do you wanna go see the live music?" I shrugged, why not? He took me over to where the music was playing, and a whole bunch of people were dancing. It was being held close to where the court house was. They had lights strung up everywhere, and there was a trailer being used as a stage for the bands that played. When we finally reached the front of the stage he turned to me, his blue eyes twinkling.
"Wanna dance?" he smiled and took my hand.
"You know without a doubt that I am a terrible dancer!" I scolded him as he twirled me around.
"Eh, I have seen worse.." he put his arm around my waist and held me close to him.
"I stepped on your foot four times the last time that we did this!" I laughed while I yelled at him.
"True, but I wouldn't say that you are the worst! Surely there is some other weirdo out there who is a worse dancer than you are!" I smacked his arm and he just laughed. We continued to dance, with me managing to only step on his foot once, and then the music ended. Our faces were centimeters apart.
"Why don't you just kiss me now and get it over with," I breathed.
"Because, I am not finished with you yet," he smiled mischievously and he then lead me toward the lit up walk in the park.
We looked at all of the Christmas lights and decorations. It was a silent walk, but it was enjoyable. I took pictures for the paper and noticed that he was watching my every move.

I knew that she would be mad at first. So when she would not talk to me for the first ten minutes, I was not surprised. However, I figured that if I took her over to see the snowmen that the kids made, that she would lighten up a little more. I knew that my idea was a success when I saw her green eyes light up brighter than Christmas lights surrounding us. She observed each snowman closely, and took pictures of her favorites. I was ecstatic when she finally spoke, and I figured that I could make her feel more at ease by taking her to do something that she was absolutely terrible at...dancing.
She stepped on my foot only once to my surprise, and she didn't squirm when I held her close to me. I inhaled her perfume, and soaked in every moment of her being with me that I could. We continued to laugh and dance until the song ended, and then she asked me why I had not kissed her yet. If only she knew that I still was terribly in love with her. After I answered, she pulled away from me severing our closeness.
I decided to take her down the lighted trail in the park. The town had really gone all out this year, and had bought new light displays to add to the old ones. It was the tenth annual party, so I could see why it happened to be even more amazing this year. We walked silently through the gorgeously lit park with her arm in mine, until she broke apart to take pictures. I loved the way she acted when she took pictures. She would lean in different ways and make faces that were too cute. When we finally began to reach the end of the trail, I looked at the clock and sighed. An hour had passed, meaning that I only had an hour and a half left with her. I just hoped that this second chance would give me another chance to be with her..
I looked at her and decided to do something that we were both good at, ice skating.
"Would you like to go to the rink? Like old times?" I asked, wondering what she would think. I half way expected her to say no, but she smiled.
"It would be my pleasure," I took her arm again and we walked to the rink.
