I'm Here

"I'm here"

He says as she cries in his lap

Her friends have left

He's all she has

She thinks she'll lose him too

But still he says "I'm here"

"I'm here" 

He says when she accuses him of not caring

When she gives him mental beatings

When she is sometimes downright cruel

She thinks that he'll give up

But still he says "I'm here"

"I'm here" 

He says when she tells him she broke down

That she hurt herself again

That she's bleeding all over the bathroom floor

She feels so very alone

But still he says "I'm here"

"I'm here" 

He says when she calls him crying

She's wanting to give up

She wants him to give up on her

If he gives up then so can she

But still he says "I'm here"

"I'm here" 

He cries as he lies a flower on her casket

He couldn't save her, no one could

She thought she was alone

He couldn't keep her 

But still he sits by her grave

And says "I'm here darling, I'm here"
