little bit of something

Chapter 1

My body sagged in exhaustion, dealing with people while hiding him, my secret, my special secret. He had yelled at me to stop being stupid, stop saying things that made me sound like a bitch. When I had woken up that morning I had known that I'd have to handle him.

"Anwell, Don't slouch, it makes you look fat!"

"This is how much I care"

I held my hand up and put my fingers only a little bit apart.

"Don't speak to me like that! It's rude"

He was so annoying! He bossed me around as if I actually care. I didn't at least I think I didn't.

I had found out about Achlys a few years ago, a little annoyance at first, but as the years went by he got worse started interacting with me, even touching me.

He didn't actually have gender but I had assumed that because I was a boy he was too, he was my shadow after all.

Achlys was even more a part of me as my hair was and that made it difficult to ignore him.

I decided to ignore Achlys's constant screeching and tried to focus on getting dressed into a more comfortable outfit before my best friend, decided to pay me a visit, which he always did.

I went to my room to change. I found some baggy pants and a T-shirt and decided to wait on my bed for Gaelbhan.

A knock on my door made me jumped, I scared easily. I got up and walked to the door, opened it, and almost got knocked over by Gaelbhan's tackle hug.

"Oof! What. Are. You. Doing."

"I'm hugging you" he stared at me as if it was obvious.

His shaggy brown hair shook as he laughed at me for being stupid, hazel eyes twinkling.

"Lirienne is coming over later, okay?"

He was almost too pretty as he cocked his head while he innocently asked if our other friend, and Gaelbhan's girlfriend, could come over, probably to make out, though I'm not one to judge. I'd never dated anyone before, which is weird for a boy of fifteen years, but it had never really bothered me, it was just not something I thought about.

My younger siblings, there were three of them, came into the room and sparrow squealed

"Etain, Phelan, Kegan!" he squealed. Gaelbhan loved my siblings. He said that they were the most adorable things, and he was right.

Etain looked ethereal with long blond hair and glittering green eyes. Kegan was small and red-haired, green eyes and large temper. Phelan was the oldest and had long dark hair, skin as pale as paper, blue eyes that seem to pierce your soul.

"Phelan have you grown bigger since I saw you last?" He had not, since Gaelbhan had seen my younger sibling yesterday.

"No" Phelan said.

I tried to hold in laughter when Achlys started criticizing my posture again.

I had learned that no one could see him but me in the first week, but people still could see me as I talked to my "shadow"

My doorbell rang signaling to Gaelbhan that his precious girlfriend was finally here.

"Liri!" Gaelbhan almost screamed into my ear, he ran to the front door, threw it open and practically tackled his girlfriend. Why she put up with him is a mystery. She laughed at him.

"Get off me weirdo."

"No." I tried to pull him off of her but it didn't work, he held on for dear life.

"I want to continue hugging my beautiful girlfriend."

"It's okay, I don't mind it, he does this all the time, I don't mind."

I shook my head at my currently cooing best friend while Achlys was saying some disgusting things about how Lirienne was dressed. She had worn a T-shirt that said "Notice me sempai" on it, whatever sempai means, and baggy jeans, but Achlys was saying things about how she looked like a boy, which made no sense because Lirienne looked nothing like a boy with her long brown hair and eyes that made you feel like you were next to a fire place they were so warm.

"Hey stranger" Dorran said from behind Lirienne.

Dorran was about the only other person in this god forsaken place he could stand, though he didn't have much of a presence, he was mostly drowned out by Lirienne and Gaelbhan's extreme personalities.

"Well I think its time for me to interrupt this little hug fest to report some important news."

"And that news is?" Gaelbhan asked.

"Lirienne has been chosen to go across the boundary."

Gaelbhan looked so happy.

"That means all of us had been chosen!"

I smiled at this. This is how we all met, a few years there had been a get together at our small high school to decide which ones were going to be picked to go across the boundary to the unknown. Gaelbhan had been with Dorran at the time but he held no hard feelings toward Gaelbhan for choosing Lirienne over him, it was very difficult to stay mad at his innocent demeanor that begged for love and affection. Dorran introduced me to Gaelbhan and we had clicked immediately, Lirienne had been happy enough just to make friends because people didn't much like her here because she liked the idea of leaving and that was not okay here.

Gaelbhan was jumping up and down so excitedly that Lirienne was being jostled back and forth making her head whip back and forth.

"Tell your annoying friend that he's annoying and stupid for me will you."

After talking a bit with the others Dorran decided he was tired and wanted to home, Lirienne agreed, Gaelbhan had started to say he was going to stay when Lirienne whispered something in his ear, he turned red, nodded, hugged me and left with Lirienne.

"Finally, there gone!" Achlys had been non-stop complaining for the last hour about how idiotic his friends were and explaining exactly how he wanted to kill them.

"You know you should get some better friends."

"Shut up"

"No need to be rude"

"I believe there is a need"

It continued like that until I decided I was done and ready to go to bed. I brushed my teeth, got into bed and tried to remember one thing, I'll be leaving this hell-hole in three days.
