"Come on son! You can do it! Focus your energy! Call upon your weapon of choice!"
"I - I can't Dad," exclaimed Scott to his father, "I'm just not powerful enough!"
"You can do it if you just believe! You're a Calibur! You have the power within you naturally! Make the light upon the ground, given by your hand, rise into a light as great as the sun!"
The lightly glistening light appearing on the ground is fading away.
"Ugh...I - I can't do it!" The light on the ground produced by Scott completely fades away.
Scott's father looks down in disappointment. He asks Scott, "Son, why do you think you can't pull this off? What do you think the problem here is?"
Scott looks at his father in sorrow and confusion. "B - because I'm not good enou-"
"Fool!" His father yells at him slapping the hand he used to cast summoning light. "That is not an answer that should be spoken from the mouth of a Calibur. Us Caliburs are of the highest caliber! We do not give in to the enemy! And right now, your enemy is yourself. You lack confidence." Scott is patted on the shoulder. "Sigh. Let's call it a day for now. Enough practice for today. Let us make haste to the house for dinner, so you may build energy from your mother's glorious cooking!"
"Finally," said Scott in relief, "I just want to eat then go to my room to rest from the work you put on me today."
Scott and his father head inside to their house from their battlefield of a backyard.

"So, Scott, how was practice today?" asked Scott's mother.
"Same as usual," said Scott, "No progress and a speech from Dad."
"Silence, foolish child!" Scott's father slams his fist onto the table. "Do you not listen to me when I speak?! I am your father, James Calibur, head of this household!"
"Don't bother, Daddy," says Scott's younger sister, Eren. "He's not going to listen to ya. His dense skull with a lack of a brain can't comprehend anything you try to tell him."
"Hey! I resent that, little Miss Perfect."
"You know, it's not insulting when it's the simple and glorious truth." Eren laughs in a sassy attitude.
"That's enough you two." The children's mother looks at them in annoyance. "Eren, just because your brother hasn't hit his Summon Peak yet, it doesn't make him a loser."
"Gee, Mom. Thanks for supporting me." Scott looks at his mom with a sarcastic face.
"Scott. Eren. In my study, now!" Their father storms out of the dining room. The siblings look at each other with worried expressions.
Scott opens the door of the study to see his father staring out the window, striking a bold stance. "Look, Dad," says Scott, "we're sorry for bickering. Can we just go back to eating? Or better yet, go to our rooms so we won't have to look at each other?"
"I'm not angry about that."
"Huh?" Scott looks confused.
"I'm angry about your lack of pride as a member of the Calibur family. And I'm upset with you also, Eren."
"What? Why am I involved in this? I'm not the non-summoner here. You know I showed my abilities at the age of 13. Scott is 22 years old and hasn't even shown that he has abilities."
"I'm upset with you for not giving your brother support!" James looks at Eren in disappointment.
"Huh?"
"As a Calibur woman, you are to support the Calibur knights. Your mother has always supported me, ever since my frontline battle days. Rias has toned down her summoning abilities since becoming a housewife, but back then, she was a powerful summoner. She saved my life quite a few times with her arrows of the angels. Did you even know that?"
"Of course," says Eren, rolling her eyes. "You remind us all the time."
"You, young lady, need another reminder as to how important the members of the Caliber family are. You too, young man." Their father sits down at his desk.
"Oh boy," the siblings says in unison, "here we go again."
