Tangled

Shining lights way up high,

In the dark, starlit sky,

Where the glowing lanterns fly.

It's where she wants to go.

Her hair; golden, soft, and long.

Luscious, smooth, and strong.

Locks that could reach the ground

Hundreds of feet down.

Hiding from everyone,

Is a man on the run.

He finds her tower to be alone

Only to be caught by the unknown.

He pretends to agree

To a request made with glee

So that maybe he could flee

With the treasure, finally.

She leaves her tower to fulfill

The one wish she wanted so well.

She untangles her own story

Through little bits of the world's glory.

The happiness of being free

Mixed with the feeling of betraying thee

Woman she calls a mother

Who stole her from another.

And on her journey,

She falls in love

Underneath the skies above.

She hasn't had this feeling before,

Never having the chance to explore.

Love takes her to another place

Somewhere she can't fully embrace.

Something as confusing as love

Creates a problem thereof.

Trust makes her believe

That everything is what it seems.

She doesn't know the story behind

The criminal record he has been assigned.

He never meant to harm her in any way;

He grew to love her more each day.

So when he gave up the crown,

His past acquaintances tied him down.

They sent him to the kingdom

To pay for what they all had done

And ran off to find

The girl that was on their mind.

Her hair, with power so strong,

Activated with the tune of a song.

The power that she possessed

Would make the men refreshed.

It would fix them however they wanted.

Once they found her, she was haunted.

She wondered where he'd gone with the crown,

Only to be taken down.

She was frightened,

She felt lost.

She believed in him,

And didn't lose trust.

Her "mother" had saved her

And brought her back home

Where she discovered

She belonged on a throne.

She was the lost princess,

The one taken away.

And when he came to save her

It was his last day.

He was stabbed and left to bleed

As she pleaded to be freed

To heal him so he could live

And she promised she would give

Her life away

So her love could live another day.

The woman reluctantly agreed to let her save his life

As he brought up glass, sharp as a knife

That cut her hair, powers all gone

And could no longer let the woman go on.

He died

As she cried.

Her tears, rich with power, had saved him,

Brought him back to life.

They returned to the kingdom

To meet her true family.

So they could live

Together happily.

There were ceremonies

Filled with laughter

And they found

Their happily ever after.
