Crime. That is the life I have always lived. I robbed, vandalized, stolen, all of the works. I had no family to disappoint, but only myself. The world hated me and I hated the world itself. There was no good for me and I had no good to share. Alone. Another thing I live by. Again, I had no family, haven't met my parents after birth, must of been a shame to see their faces as they dropped me off at the nearest unwanted care.
Good riddance to them, I need no one. I've always been alone, so I'm used to it. Wife? Children? Jeez, I'm a free man, I'm living the life! The world is my free everything, despite the fact I steal what I set my eyes on to my own appeal. That is just the beginning, I've never thought my life would change this way at all. Never in a million years would I come face to face with The Robotics. They sure were a pain in the ass, still are. The problem is, I'm not sure if my life changed for the better, or the worse.

It all started on a random night, possibly a Tuesday, yet the irrelevancy of what day it was might kill me. I was doing a daily run of 'shopping' well more of a hit and run of a horse carriage while running from the police with a sack of bread. I dodged passerby with the occasional yelps and disparaging remarks. How charming. The feds were gaining into me but I quickly took a sharp turn into a nearby alleyway. Unfortunately, I bumped into a random stranger whose attitude seemed nothing but irritable.
"Watch where you are going, nitwit!" I scoff at the mysterious person's insult. I couldn't tell who this person was based off of their attire, which consisted of a dark cloak with tinted goggles. The outfit itself made them look quite amusing. They glare me up and down and I continue to run, since I'm kinda busy escaping from the law. I hear the gunshots of the police which shows they are close by. I curse loudly as I reach a dead end.
I look around to see there is no where to go. The officers finally catch up to me. They hold their muskets and daggers up to me as I face the fact I surrender. "Oh what a surprise, if it isn't Ben Livings. We've been looking for you since the burning from the colony down south." The chief slowly walks up to me. "Ah, what a great day that was, Officer Jennings," I reminisce the past event fondly until he scoffs at me. "Well we finally have you now, you're finished." He laughs mid way before getting cut off by a loud screech. He and I as well as the others look around to find the source of the terrible sound to see a sight I can't believe.
It's the mysterious person I saw before getting caught by the police. They seem to be holding a metal pipe of the sorts, and it looks like they dragged it along the brick setting which made the sound. "Get lost, rugbum, we are in the middle of a special meeting." The person removes their cloak's hood and it turns out the person is a female. "Sorry to intrude, but your meeting is cut short, Livings is coming with me." The guards laugh as they wonder how in the hell I am going with her, I even laughed. "Go away, how is a weak girl such as yourself going to get your hands on this dirty lowlife."
"I have a name," I mumble. She nods as she replaces her hood. "Then shall be it, you've chosen the hard way." She raises the pipe as she swiftly attacks the nearest guard. She ducks from a sneak attack from another guard behind her then whacks the pipe at his head. He drops to the ground unconscious while quickly bleeding out. She drops the pipe and takes out her own weapon, which seems to be a metal sword with new century-like design. I was astonished. Officer Jennings gives orders to the other guards as I quickly punch him in the face. He retreats as I attack him.
"I've always wanted to do that!" I cheer as I continue to thrash at him. Cloak Girl, as I shall call her, ends up knocking out the rest of the guards and turns towards us. Jennings aims his musket at her, and quickly shoots. She surprisingly dodges it and runs towards him. Before he can shoot again, his gun is then crushed into pieces by her metallic glove I didn't notice her wearing. He looks shocked as much as I am. Cloak Girl's eyes are filled with fury, but before she can make her next move, Jennings flees out of fear. I laugh in victory and turn towards her. "C'mon, you are coming with me," she orders.
"There's no way in hell I am. I appreciate you for taking care of those assholes, but I didn't need your help." I start to walk away until she walks in front of me then faces me. Although she seemed rather tall, I still had to look down to meet her eyes. "Yeah, right. You were almost gunned down by those puny guards. That isn't even the point. If it weren't for this important thing we need you for, I would have left your weak ass with them." I stare at her wide eye'd and forcefully push past her almost knocking her down, while responding, "Well I don't care what you need me for. I would much rather be left with them than with a rude bitch. And we? There's more of you?! Good grie-" I am then cut off by getting a hard hit to my face. I notice my lip starts to bleed. "No one calls me a bitch, and you will pay for that. But now isn't the time, you are coming with me whether you like it or not, if you refuse, I will do more than bust your lip." She shakes off the hand that was covered with the glove, and already frowning face deepens.
I glance at her to meet her serious face, then I groan as I wipe at my bleeding face. I know I'm going to regret this way later. "Fine, 'take me to your leader'," I joke, as she walks along and I follow. Who knew this would be the start to something bigger than I could imagine.
