I awoke with an agonizing headache in the middle of a dank room. There were no lights, but there was enough to see figures laying on the floor. I started to hyperventilate because I was terrified of the dark and I was pretty sure there were crawlies on the dirt floor. Hugging myself, I went through the questions you ask yourself when you are having a panic attack. Who was I? Where am I from? How old was I?

"I-I don't remember. "

Hearing this strange voice pushed my panic to the brink. I started to cry. I felt a cool hand squeeze my shoulder. I jumped away from the gesture and squinted through the darkness. It was a girl who had a warm smile. I moved closer and she wiped a tear from my cheek. She then told me to breath and rubbed my back to calm me. Calmed down, I opened my mouth to speak. We were then interrupted by a bright flashlight. It was a dark figure in a doorway of a sort. I felt myself panicking again.

"Get up."

All the other figures on the floor arose, the strange thing was that we were all girls. They girls ranged from young to old. One of the younger girls started to cry, so the girl who had comforted me went to her. What were we doing here? Shakily standing up, I walked towards the light. The man with the flashlight immediately knocked me in the head with the end of the light. I crumpled to the floor and felt the back of my head grow wet. I reached to touch the wound: blood.

"Don't let it go to waste!"

The man yanked my hand to his mouth and licked it. I started to cry because this monster. He made pleasure sounds as he licked my hand clean. I felt my throat fill with bile and I tried to yank my hand back. His grip was impossible to escape. The girl who comforted me came toward and slapped the man. His eyes started to glow and he was as fast as a bullet. He grabbed her by the shoulders and tilted her head. What happened next would haunt me forever. He grew fangs and bit her neck. Her eyes went wide and she let out a bloodcurdling scream. We all scrambled to the corner of the room as he threw the girl to the floor. He let out a devilish smirk that let blood dribble down his chin.

"Any objections?"

I lowered to the floor and moved towards the girl. Turning her face, I started to cry. Her face was frozen in fear and there was no life in her eyes. I raised my hand to close her eyes and kissed her forehead. I'd never know who this girl was and she died for me. The man yanked me to my feet and shoved me into the group of girls. We were led out of the dark into the middle of a forest of sorts. The group walked in silence and I held on to the younger girl's hand. I stared at the stars and tried to remember anything about my life. There was nothing. I was just a lamb being led to the slaughter by a monster.

We came upon what looked like and ancient house that looked like it belonged on a plantation. How I knew what a plantation looked like? I don't remember, there was just knowledge of it. I began to grow angry as I found out I hated not knowing. I made a promise to myself that I would remember and if I belonged any where I would escape. The man led us around thee grand abode towards a building next to a pool. He opened the door to the poolhouse and led us in. There were different colored beds that had pictures of faces. I had no idea what I looked like. We helped each other find our beds. I belonged to the emerald bed, we had been named after the months of the year. Above our bed was a banner of our star sign; mine was the tough bull.

"E-excuse me?"

"Yes?"

"Why are we ordered by star signs?"

"You will learn about that tomorrow as you will be auctioned."

"Auctioned?"

"You all are cattle, blood bags technically. You are nothing."

"Why!"

"Lights out!"

The man laughed as he closed and locked the door. The youngest girl came up to me and started to cry. I hushed her and tucked everyone in. I had to be strong for these girls. Once I was sure everyone was asleep I allowed myself to break down. I hugged the silk pillow and softly cried. I wish I was brave like the girl in the shack. Anger brewed in my gut; I had to be strong. I wiped my face and went into a fitful slumber. I had nightmare of a monster like the man hunting me. His eyes glowed a haunting yellow and his fangs glinted in the moonlight.
