His soft sweet smile.
"Wow." He said. "You look beautiful."
"Thank you" I said looking down at my short, pastel pink dress with a jean jacket over it. Looking down still, he lifts up my chin.
"But you look even better looking up." He smiled softly. "Now shall we go?"
"Yes, we shall" I say as he intertwined his fingers with mine.
"It's quite a lovely day for a stroll in the park, is it not?" He said.
"It's the perfect day." I said back quietly looking up at the sky then back at down at his face already observing mine.
He opens his car door for me and allows me to get in. He swoops around to the other side and opens the car door and starts the car.
It took maybe 15 minutes to get to the location. It was quiet and peaceful. He quickly gets out of his car and opens the door on my side. I get out and adjust my dress.
"Come on lovely" he said taking my hand once again and led me to a small trail and we began walking.
"You know I wasn't kidding when I said you looked beautiful." He said laughing.
"I know. I'm just not called that a lot. Especially aft-" he walked in front of me and I ran into him.
"Shh... I know. I know you don't like talking about that." He said softly. "It's okay. I may not know what happened but I understand... Do you understand?" He said almost coldly.
"Yes." I said. My eyes got wider and he took my hand again and we began walking.
We got to a small bridge that went over a small creek. It's almost like a forest. Dark green trees. Serenity.
"It's quite lovely." I said glancing into his eyes observing the little fish in the creek.
"I agree." He said. He wrapped his arm around me, "my father used to take me here every day, I loved it. Not a lot of people come here anymore." He said glancing down at the ground.
"What happened to your father?" I said looking at his face.
"He disappeared." He said.
"Disappeared?" I questioned.
"I woke up one day, he wasn't there. He left our family." He said with a tear streaming down his soft, tanned face. " it's okay. I know he left for good reasons."
"You know. The thing I don't like talking about is-" I was stopped once again.
"Are you sure you want to tell me this?" He said quickly grabbing my shoulder.
"Yes" I said. "It was a regular day, parents fighting. Hate. Nothing new. But it went too far. I was in the other room. Listening to music so I couldn't hear the most revolting names ever made. I heard gun shot. I ran to find my mom holding a gun with my dad lying on the floor. She ran out of the house with the gun. I ran to my dad. Him hardly breathing. He said "wait, don't call 911. Just come here." I ran over to him. He told me to bend over so he could whisper in my ear. The last words I ever heard him say was "find your mother. I. Love. You." And ever since that day I've hated my mother." I said getting colder and colder.
"Shh... Come here. It's okay. Shh.." He said whispering.
He held me. Loving. Tight. I've never felt so safe in my entire life.
"Please never let go" I said with a tear running down my face.
"Never will I."
