War
On the sodden battlefield
Hostile war engages
Oh, On the fickle forefront wind
The tide of battle changesThey put up a spirited fight
One that lasted on into the night
A rather grim and painful sightWith the guns that we do wield
Fruitless war engages
They try to frustrate all our plans
We carry on, courageousBattling for our ultimate plight
We held on to our vengeance, tight
And carried on fighting with spiteVictory was close yet so fugitive
But their army soon began to give
Many died
And fewer livedHow they wanted to eradicate
They wanted, so, to dominate
But easily met a grisly fateWe pushed them back
They stood, bewilderedThey stood, aghast
They stood, at last
They stood...
And stared...They had a foolish, fallible plan
They were duped, and so they ran...
The bomb shells bursted overhead
And then we began to count the countless deadAnd at last, they stood, defeated
And, at last, long last
The fight
The fight that we fought so hard
Was completedHostile
Mocking
Devastating
The thing that never changes
War
