Chapter 1
The teacher droned on and on as I sat in class, tapping my pencil on my desk. He told us to take out our books, and I immediately looked to see what Jordan is doing. I thought about what he said last night.
"I can't help if I love you." The words played over and over again in my mind. Why can't you just admit it to him? I have asked myself that question to many times to count. I thought about Teddy. What is he going to say? He doesn't approve of Jordan...he'll say it's a bad idea. The bell rang and I gathered my books. My body denied me from getting up and leaving. Then he came over.
"Hey Catie. I...I'm sorry. About last night," He said disdainfully.
You're sorry? What about me? It's my fault you like me in the first place.
"I just couldn't do it anymore. I couldn't lie," He continued.
"It's fine. I have to tell you something. It's extremely important...I'll call you."
"Alright. Bye."
"Bye."
I walked down the hall and arrive at my locker. Teddy, my best friend since 5th grade, stood there up against the wall, waiting for me to finish putting away my books.
"Hi Teddy." I smiled at him. Then he did the most frightening thing he has ever done. But I liked it. No one else was in hallway, but after he checked, he grabbed my arm without saying a word, spun me around, and kissed me. I was extremely surprised. Teddy never showed signs of liking me before, and now this? He backed off after a minute, and we just stared at each other. We stayed like that for a minute or two, until he finally said something.
"Let's go Catie. We're way late for band."
Chapter 2
By the time I got off the bus, I was still in shock. I have to talk to him. Teddy is the only person I trust. I have to call him. As I picked up the phone, it started ringing. It was 267 number. I didn't recognize it until I remembered that Jordan had my home number. I ignored it and called Teddy. No answer. Called again. No answer. I finally just gave up after a while, and I called Jordan back.
"Hello?" A women answered. I assumed it was his mother.
"Hi Ms. Parkes. Is Jordan there?"
"Yes. May I ask who's calling?"
"Catie Reed."
"Thank you. One second please."
There was a long pause until I heard a deep, "Hello?"
"Hi. Um. Jordan?"
"Hey. Is this Catie?"
"Yeah...I called to tell you...something."
"Okay. What is it?"
"I..." I thought about it. What was it that I wanted to tell him? I really couldn't remember. "I'm not sure...can I call you back?"
"Sure. Bye."
That did not just happen. Please tell me that did not just happen. It was then when something weird happened. The phone rang in my hands. It was Teddy. When I saw the name, I realized why it had happened. Why I forgot something important. When I saw the Caller I.D., I knew I was in love with Teddy.
Chapter 3
Maybe it was the kiss. The warm feeling I had in my heart when he wrapped his arms around me and kissed me so gently. It could've been anything else though. My heart was beating so loudly, I thought for sure it was going to jump right out of my chest. For a moment there, I kind of wanted it to. I answered the phone. I hope I get through this.
