5 days.
5 days until Mark's birthday, and Jack was stuck. Every year he tried to make Mark's birthday perfect, and every year, Mark tells him he had succeeded. But this year, Jack was out of ideas. It felt like he had done it all, a big party with friends and family, a romantic dinner with slow dancing and delicious food, and everything in between. So now, it was almost impossible to come up with something original.
3 Days Later...
2 days until the "party" (See what I did there?)
Jack was full on stressing, and Mark could tell. He rarely slept and was always tense, and Mark could not tell why. He at first thought his boyfriend was suffering from night terrors, and tried to comfort him. But, Jack quickly assured him that was not the case. So, now, as the days grow closer to friday, which happened to be his birthday, Jack got more and more stressed.
Wait...
His birthday.
Oh, Baby boy...
1 day until the "party"
Jack could not take it anymore, no matter how hard he tried, he could not come up with a new way to surprise Mark. So, now he has been forced to break one of the biggest rules of birthdays...
And ask Mark.
Mark's POV
I walk into the kitchen to see Jack sitting at the table, his head in his hands. My heart hurt to see him so stressed, but I now had an idea as to why he is. I walk up behind him and gently drape my arms over his shoulders. He tenses at first, but then melts into my arms. I lightly chuckle, and place a small kiss on his temple.
"Hello baby, are you alright?"
Jack sighs, and rubs his eyes with a small, adorable yawn.
"I guess, it's just... something has been bothering me."
I move so I am next to him instead of behind. I leave one arm around his shoulders, and take my free hand and place a finger under his chin so he'll look at me.
"Is this about my birthday tomorrow?"
Jack sighs again, and nods, looking down once again. I chuckle, and press a kiss to his forehead.
"Jack... Sean, baby, why would you let something so small stress you so much? It's just my birthday, sweet heart."
"It's not 'just your birthday', Mark. You deserve the perfect birthday, because you are perfect. You are so kind to me, and do everything for me, and you treat me like I'm so precious. And, more than anything, I want to return that care as much as I can." Tears were brimming Jack's eyes as he spoke, he took a shaky breath.
"But I can't. No matter how hard I try, I can never do anything as perfect as you."
I was surprised at Jack's speach. Me? Perfect?
"Jack, what on earth are you talking about?"
Jack looked up, one tear falling down his rosy red cheek. I rested a hand on his cheek and wiped the tear with my thumb.
"Jack, you are more than perfect. Ever day, you never fail to make smile, laugh, and make me the happiest I have ever been. Ever day, I fall in love with you all over again, and that, in itself, is perfect."
Jack smiles widely, sniffling slightly. He lightly wrapped a hand around my wrist.
"R-Really?"
I smiled, and pecked his lips.
"Really."
We both stood up and Jack wrapped his arms around my neck. I wrap my arms around his shoulders, and leave small kisses on his shoulder and neck.
"Hey, Jack. You know all I want for my birthday?"
He leaned back, but left his hands on my shoulders. My hands go from his shoulders down to his hips. Jack's eyes were wide with wonder, and I could have gotten lost in them.
"W-What?"
I pull him closer and lean towards his ear.
"I want to spend the day at home with the most beautiful boyfriend on the planet."
Jack giggled and wrapped his arm back around my shoulders. I wrapped my arms around his waist and kissed his temple.

No ones POV
Jack awoke, and was ready to leap out of bed to prepare for Mark's birthday, when he remembered...
there was no preparation needed.
He felt slightly relieved, and quickly got comfortable again in the bed. He soon felt two strong arms snake around his waist, pulling him closer into a spooning position. Jack smiled as he felt lips kiss his temple, cheek, and neck.
"Good morning, birthday man."
"Mornin' beautiful." Mark mumbled against the skin Jack's neck. Jack giggled at the feeling, then turned around and pecked Mark's lips. Mark chuckled, and started running his finger through Jack's green hair. Jack reached up and touched Mark's new, blue hair.
"Did I tell you I liked the new color? Blue suits you." Mark chuckled again, his fingers still running through the green hair on top of Jack's head.
"Thank you, baby boy."
The two stayed like this for a while. Mark playing with Jack's hair, while Jack traced Mark's biceps with his finger, or played with the hem of his t-shirt. A smile never left either of their faces. Mark finally broke the silence.
"Jack, this is the best birthday I've ever had."
Jack looked up at him, slightly confused.
"Really? But we're not doing anything."
"Exactly." Mark responded, caressing Jack's cheek. "I get to spend the day with the best man in my life, no distractions."
Jack smiled, and snuggled closer Mark, burying his head in his chest.
"I love you, Mark." Jack said, his voice slightly muffled from the fabric of Mark's shirt. Mark smiled
"I love you too, Jack. I love you so much."
