.:. I just thought of this idea. And I mean JUST. I don't even know what it is going to be about really, but i like the prologue so I decided to post it. Tell me what you think? .:.
Prologue
I twist my hair into a bun, tucking it under my fedora and lowering the black brim. Then I take a final look around the hotel full of strangers, wondering which of them would help me escape, and which would try to kill me. It’s not like being a magical creature is easy or anything, everybody is trying to kill you nowadays.
My violet eyes flicker over to a man smoking a cigarette, peaking over at me with muddy brown eyes. His lizard like tongue flickers out, licking his lips. I jump a little and look away. Well, found the one that’s going to try to kill me. I feel a tug on my dark, blue dress and look down to see a chubby boy with tears coming out of his eyes, his hand on my grey leggings.
“Will you help me find my mommy?” he whimpers out, holding his raggedy teddy bear closer to him. I smile sweetly down at him. And here’s the one that’s going to help me escape.
“Of course sweetie,” I say, taking hold of his warm, sticky hand, letting myself be dragged off, my head ducked to not draw attention. That’s when I saw him standing in the corner, his electric green eyes analyzing me thoroughly. I hold in my breath as I stare at him, one thought filling my mind. He’s just like me.
“Thank you, but I’ve found her,” the little boy says, pointing to angry woman. I watch as he walks sheepishly over to her, his head hung down low in guilt for running off.
“You really should pay more attention,” a voice slithers against my neck, making me shiver in disgust. I flick my eyes to the side to see the man who was smoking a cigarette. I have to bite my lip from gagging at the horrible stench wafting up to my nose from the man.
“You really should shower more,” I retort, moving away from him unconsciously. Everything about him shouts hunter, even if I couldn’t smell it on him. His posture is that of a hunter, watching it’s prey, and his brown eyes following my every movement. I watch him glare a little bit before taking a drag on a new cigarette.
“Shall we take this outside, we wouldn’t anyone to get hurt,” he says, flicking her cigarette to the side, raising an eyebrow, “now would we?” he asks, mocking me. I take in a breath as I see him flicker his eyes to the little boy who’s now being dragged through the hotel lobby by his mother. I narrow my eyes at him and nod, following him out into the heat of New York City in the summer. I glance at a dandelion, slumped over with it’s brown petals wilted as it leans over the sun baked asphalt of the parking lot.
“What do you want hunter?” I speak in a tone of superiority, standing up, trying to make my slender five foot two seem intimidating. He snorts, while pulling out a sharp knife, cleaning if off with his grimy white wife beater. He tsks at me, shaking his head, making his oily black hair swish to one side before sticking to his face. I raise my upper lip in disgust.
“Do you know how many people want your head Elektra?” he asks, calling me by my name. “Your power, your heritage makes you the prime prey,” he says, holding his knife up to the sun, smirking at me. I squint my eyes at him through the sun taking my hair out of my hand and braiding my silver hair back like he’s nothing to be worried about.
“Then why are you so foolish enough to track me?” I ask, my voice ringing curiosity. He smirks as he points at me with his dagger.
“Trust me, honey, I’m part of a long list to come and track you. Personally, I think I’m the only one that needs to be on it though. You‘re nothing to be afraid of except a little girl in piggy tails, but it is a shame to have to kill such a beautiful creature, ” he says as he throws his arm back, releasing the dagger. I quickly sidestep it and hold out my finger, making him stop. I feel his energy slowly coming into my finger, but I block it off. I walk slowly over to him, my eyes looking him up and down, his brown eyes showing his pain and fear.
“Hunter, you shouldn’t be afraid of me,” I say, smiling sweetly down at him. I bend over and whisper, “You should be terrified.” I release my block, letting his energy slide out of his body and into mine. I clench my fists as I watch the dry out body of the stupid hunter who though could get the best of me. I take in a deep breath as I feel my yearn for power ebb a little bit, but it’s always there.
“You can come out now,” I yell, leaning over to pick up a few of the hunter’s knives, sticking them into my hidden pouches. I look up to see the green eye boy from earlier, frowning as he walks out of the corner.
“How did you know I was there?” he asks, looking at me with scrunched up eyebrows.
“I can sense you’re energy,” I say, stepping over the dead man and walking over to my blood red motorcycle. “What were you doing spying?” I ask over my shoulder as I hop onto my bike.
“I was going to help you, hopefully we can stick together?” he asks, hope and fear shining in his neon eyes. I laugh at him as I strap on my helmet.
“Sorry, but I don’t do teams,” I say as I rev the bike, pealing out of the parking lot before the boy can utter a single word. I have to be, to survive in this world.
You see, there are creatures out there, mythical creatures. Witches, ogres, werewolves and more that are being hunted down as a sport. I’m a rare species, my heritage dating back to the first mythical creature on earth. I’m what is known as a Perigoso-roughly translated to Dangerous. My specific powers are the most rare of our kind seeing as though I’m the only one.
I am the life drainer, energy user, the hoarder, lightning tamer, the taker, death bringer, and more. I am Elektra.
