I roamed the halls of the middle school, trying to find my friends. I accidentally bumped shoulders with someone walking by. I turned to say sorry, but they were already all the way down the hallway. I went to go back to searching for my friends. It was kind of odd, because usually my friends were always up and down this hallway. It seemed almost like most kids from my grade weren't even there. I went my language class, and looked for my teacher. We're was everyone? She wasn't in the classroom, when suddenly I heard an announcement over the loud speaker. "Everyone report to the gym." It echoed. Everyone slowly wandered toward the gym. I went to go ask an older kid what was going on, but it seemed like they just ignored me. I decided just to report to the gym, to see what was going on. Once I got there, everyone was sitting down, and it seemed like no one dared to say a word. I saw all of my friends wandering around, looking confused too. We all walked towards each other, and the first person to say anything was liv.

"What is going on?" We gave her a look, agreeing with her question.

"Why is everyone just like completely ignoring us?" Carly asked.

"I don't know." Molly said. Phil walked over, and stood directly in front of someone, not even looking away.

"Yeah... It's almost like they are just not listening to us at all." She said.

"We have to figure it out!" Liv practically shouted. I walked up to our language teacher, and tried to see if she would listen. She didn't even seem to notice.

"Even the teachers won't even notice us." I said. We all stood around, trying to figure it out.

Chapter 2

Me and my friends still were looking around for some sort of reason why no one was listening to us.

"Maybe this is just a joke or something." Phil said. She walked over and looked at an older kid that was sitting on the gym floor. She snapped her fingers in his face, but he didn't move. Liv walked over to Phil, and said,

"maybe they just need a little push." She sat down right next to the older kid, and gave him a hard shove. He nearly fell over, but still hadn't budged. "Wow! They really are just ignoring us!" She shouted. Suddenly, a loud screeching noise echoed around the gym.

"What...was t-that?" Carly said. The same noise appeared again, but sounded closer. We all turned around, and saw a large, bat-like creature, diving directly at us.

"Run!" We all shouted. We ran for the gym doors, and tried pushing them as hard as we could, but they wouldn't open.

"Their locked!" I shouted.

"The bleachers!" Molly shouted, pointing underneath them. We all ran and hid underneath, peeking out to see what was making that noise. It was the same, huge, bat-like creature was searching around for were we had gone. It landed on top of the bleachers, shacking the whole thing. We huddled underneath, terrified.

"What do we do?!" Phil whispered. But now it was too late to run. The creature was staring directly at us, through a gap in the bleachers.

"We can't run." Liv said.

"Then what are we supposed to do?" Carly said.

"This." Liv said, with a smirk on her face. She stood up, and stared through the same gap the creature was glaring through. "Hey!" She said. "Why are you in our gym?"
