Fionna quickly rushed into the girls bathroom, grasping at their chest in a desperate attempt to return their breathing back to normal. They swore they could feel their heart beating out of their chest with every heaving breath they took. Gripping on to the bathroom sink, they took a look at themselves in the mirror, getting a glimpse of their messy face from crying for so long. They didn't even look for 2 seconds. They just quickly glanced at their face in disgust, turned on the faucet, and splashed their face with ice cold water. Fionna took deep breaths, looking down at the dirty, tiled floor, too afraid to look up again. They just sat there for a second, letting the water drip down from their face ever so slowly, relishing the fact that they're still breathing. That they're still alive.
Finally, they took one last look up at themselves. This time, they didn't bother to get all worked up and splash water on their face again. They just... stared. Observed. They took in one heavy inhale, and another heavy exhale. They looked a bit more closely at their face. Their eyes were a bright color, but the bags under them added a darker shade to the brightness. Around the eyes you could see how pink and puffy they were. You could almost even see the stress radiating from their expression. In all honesty, they looked a mess. But that was the least of their worries. In fact, they were more concerned with something else.
Soon enough, they slouched against the wall and dragged themselves down to the disgusting floor. They rubbed at their thighs nervously as horrible thoughts ran all throughout their troubled mind. "What will they think? Will they love and accept me still? I'm not comfortable. I never will be. Even after all the surgeries and maybe even hormones. Never." They were unbelievably close to having a breakdown. Truthfully, they hated themselves. They wished they were another way but they couldn't change anything. Hell, they were only in 7th grade, 12 years old. How was any of this ever going to work out? They gripped their hair pulled on it a bit, closing their eyes. They hadn't meant to cry... it just came out. Suddenly the door to the bathroom opened and a tall, rude-looking girl had come in. "Uh... are you, uh, okay?" She seemed awfully awkward. Fionna might have talked to her if she acted a little nicer. Fionna got up stiffly, nodded hastily, and quickly walked out of the bathroom. The bell was about to ring soon, hopefully they'd be free from this hell that was school.
