For the next week or so, Camila did everything she could to avoid Collin. The scary part was that he was absolutely clueless that any of them knew what he had done. And Lauren's idea was to keep it lowkey that they knew so that it would be easier for them to get evidence once the trial started.
It was now Friday and to Camila's surprise, Lauren hadn't skipped any day of school, but she assumed that was because she needed to bring up her grades.
There was just about fifteen minutes until class and Camila dug through her locker attempting to find the notebook she hid. When she found it behind a stack of books, she threw it into her bag and proceeded to check herself out in the magnetic mirror that hung on her locker door.
"Stop trying, you always look beautiful," a voice suddenly said, causing Camila to jump and shut her locker door.
She relaxed when she realized it was only Lauren. Lauren was wearing a denim jacket with a white shirt underneath, along with black sweatpants.
"You scared me," Camila sighed, watching as Lauren lean against the locker next to hers.
"Sorry babe, I didn't mean to," Lauren pouted, causing Camila to soften up and peck her lips.
"I have good news," Lauren exclaimed.
"What is it?" Camila asked, as she put her lock on her locker and shut it.
"I'm on this season's softball team, and the first game is tonight!" Lauren happily said, standing up straight and fighting the urge to clap for herself.
"That's amazing!" Camila exclaimed, giving Lauren a congratulatory kiss.
"You're coming to the game tonight right? Maggie said all of us can go out for dinner after," Lauren asked, hoping her girlfriend would be there to support her.
"Yeah of course, wait Collin isn't coming is he?" Camila always needed reassurance that Collin wouldn't be around, she couldn't face him anymore.
"No, apparently not," Lauren shrugged.
"Hey Jauregui, what are you doing over there, come join us!" A boy shouted from across the hall. Camila couldn't help but notice the resemblance between the boy and Lauren. The boy had black hair and green eyes, pale skin and pink lips. He wore one of those cliché varsity jackets, only allowing Camila to assume he was either on the soccer team or basketball team.
He stood with a group of many guys, all wearing the similar varsity. And all of them, cheering and calling Lauren over to their group.
When Lauren turned around, Camila had assumed she was leaving her to go to the group. But when she felt Lauren's hand clutching onto hers, she felt herself blush. Lauren and Camila hadn't really shown their couple side to the school, but perhaps this was when Lauren was officially showing off their relationship.
Lauren led her girlfriend to the group.
The two of them joined the group of guys, and Lauren noticed Camila had suddenly tensed up. She protectively put her hand on Camila's waist.
"It's been so long Jauregui, what have you been up to?" A boy with short black hair, and brown eyes asked. Camila squinted her eyes at the varsity he wore, noticing he had his name stitched in near the chest area.
Jared.
"Not much, you know being accused for murder, joining the softball team, getting a-" Lauren then stopped when she noticed Jared's hungry eyes were only glued on Camila.
"Getting a girlfriend," Lauren said louder, hoping he would get the hint that Camila was with her.
"A girlfriend eh? Is that this lovely girl right here?" Jared asked, his eyes wondering down Camila's body.
