"hi donald." naomi said in a somber voice while holding some clothes in her hands. she looked sad, and so did her daughter as she looked up at me.
"uhh, hi. what are you-uh doing here? it's like three-"
"i know, i know. may we come in please?"
i forgot it was pouring down raining outside as i let them come in.
i looked on the floor as water dripped from their clothes. "shit, i'm sorry." naomi said when she noticed i was looking at my now wet floors. "it's fine, it's just water." i said. i sat down on the couch as they both just stood. i understood they probably didn't want to get my furniture wet. i didn't want them to get it soaked either.
"i bet you're wondering why we are here. it's a long story." she ran her fingers through her wet, short hair. she looked out of breath.
"mommy, i have to pee." her daughter said as she looked up at her.
"where's the bathroom, donald?"
"oh, it's down the hall and to the left." i said.
"we'll be right back." she said, as they both walked to the bathroom.
i looked back at them as they closed the door, and lied back against the couch. whatever story she had to tell, had to be bad, if they're coming to my house this late at night. i should stop jumping to conclusions.
i glanced over at chance and marcus, who were still knocked out. i'm surprised they didn't notice them. marcus woke himself up with a loud snort, and looked around. he groaned, patting his pockets and searching for his phone. "how long was i-"
"couple of hours." i said.
at that moment, naomi and her daughter came out of the bathroom. they walked back over to the couch where i was sitting.
"hey, aren't you that girl that was here the other day?" marcus said sleepily.
"yeah, why?" she said in a rude tone.
"just wondering. chill out." he said. he looked at her daughter. "whose this?" he stood as he walked towards her.
"my name is namiko!" her daughter chimed happily.
he kneeled down and held his hand out for her to shake it. "i'm marcus." namiko shook his hand back gently and giggled. his hand was huge compared to hers. marcus chuckled and stood back up.
"is this your niece or something?" he said, looking at naomi.
"daughter." i said, while glancing at marcus.
marcus looked at naomi for a while, and then at namiko.
"wow." he said. "i think i'm gonna go sleep, again." he walked to the back room and shut the door.
"that was awkward." naomi sighed. "may we sit?"
"of course." i said.
they both sat on the couch across from me.
"i'm tired." namiko said, as she looked up at naomi.
"just lay on my lap, miko." she said, as namiko lied her head on naomi's lap.
"so, this story?" i said, getting a little impatient.
she sighed again. "to make a long story short, i got fired from my job today and didn't even receive this weeks pay and me and miko got evicted from our apartment because of payments. and we have nowhere else to go at the moment."
"well, what about your parents?" i said, curiously.
"they're both dead." she said.
"wow, i'm sorry about that." i said.

Fanfiction"tell me, what are you afraid of?" i asked naomi, whispering into her ear. she hesitated a moment, "i don't really know, that's what scares me." "not really knowing what you're afraid of, scares you?" i said. she sighs softly. "yeah." ~ i have to ad...
