It started as a sunny summer day with a clear blue sky. That night though, was something else entirely. It was a dark, stormy night; a perfect night to play the game death knocks at midnight. Ava was hanging out with her friends Shophie and Nadia when they saw Aiden, Zach, Aaron and Albert. "Hey over here" Sophie called out as she waved the four others over. When the guys joined the group Nadia said, "about time you guys got here." "As I was about to tell Sophie and Nadia," Ava said, turning to them all "my parents aren't going to be home this weekend so I was wondering if you all wanted to come over." Al, who was busy gazing at Sophie, looked at Ava and said he was all for it. Everyone else was quick to agree. "Great, we'll all meet at my house at nine." Exclaimed Ava. By the time Ava got home, her parents had already left, and she quickly went upstairs to her room so she could get ready for the evening. When Sophie and Nadia showed up, it was eight thirty. They helped Ava get everything ready. The boys finally showed up a little past nine. Then, the group settled in to watch the movies everyone had brought along with them. A storm started rolling in by the time they were on the second horror movie. "Perfect." Zach said with a smile. Nadia and Sophie looked over at him and glared. All of a sudden, the power went out. All the girls screamed as if the devil was after them. "Hey quiet all of you it was just the storm," said Aaron. All the boys brought out lighters and flicked them on. "Ava where are some candles?" Asked Zach. "There are some in my room and some on my parents' room." Ava answered. Zach and Ava left to go get the candles. Ava and Zach came back in carrying candles and as they were lighting them, Al explained the game. The game had to start right at midnight; they needed paper, pencil, needle, candle and a door. They all had to write their name on the paper and then prick their finger and let a drop of blood land on the paper. They had to let it soak in and place the paper in front of a door. When the clock strikes twelve they have to knock on the door twelve times in pace with the chimes, that, or the game doesn't work. Then, they had to open the door, blow out their candles, and run. For the game has begun. Aaron checked his cell phone. "Fifteen minutes to midnight," he said, "do you guys wanna play?" Everyone agreed to play the game, because they all believed it was a hoax. Sophie found sound paper and all of them wrote their name down on it. Since there wasn't a needle around, Ava grabbed a small kitchen knife. "This will have to do, since my mom doesn't sew or anything," said Ava. No one wanted to go first, so Al grabbed the knife and pricked his finger, and then Zach did. The rest of the group eventually followed. After the blood had soaked into the paper, Al put the paper in front of the door they had picked. "Time to start the game" said Al. The clock struck twelve, and on the first chime, Al's knuckles met the door and he kept knocking on time with the clock. On the twelfth chime, and after the twelfth knock, Al opened the door. No one was on the other side and everyone just stood there. Then, the tv flicked on and static appeared. Everyone jumped when the tv turned on. Then, they heard someone breathing heavily next to the tv. There wasn't anything next to the tv but they could feel another presence in the room. They saw red eyes slowly beginning to form, and with them the rest of the body. The thing that was standing there looked at them all and then smiled. "Run" it said. The sound of its voice sent chills down their spines. They all took off running, leaving the thing laughing in the living room. Nadia reached the front door first and tried to open it. "Come on! Open the door! We need to get out of here!" yelled Sophie. "I'm trying! The door won't open!" Nadia answered back. "To late, there isn't a way out now,"came the thing's haunting voice. As Al was grabbed by the foot, his blood-curdling scream filled the air. He was dragged to the ground and pulled into the living room, his nails leaving marks the entire way. Upon seeing the nail marks left behind from Al, the rest of the them take off, running for the stairs. In the basement, razor wire was wrapped around Al's ankles and the thing strung him up. The wire cut him to the bone and you could hear his screams throughout the house. Frustrated and scared, Ava and everyone else started trying to call for help. Their phones didn't work and nobody heard them. "I can't take this anymore! We have to find a way out," said Ava. "There's no way out, Al said we have to wait this out until three" said Zach. Zach's phone went off and everyone looks over at him, he pulls out his phone. "It's a text message from Al." "What does it say Zach?" Asked Ava. Zach took a deep breath. "It says 'Your Next" "hey everybody Al stopped screaming," said Nadia. Everyone left the room that they were hiding in and went to the basement to see if they could find Al. When they entered the basement all the girls screamed. Al was hanging upside down by his ankles. Blood was dripping down his body. His fingernails were ripped off and the skin around his ankles was torn and shredded. You could see the bone. Nadia took off running; she ran back up the stairs and hid in the bathroom. The lights started to flicker on and off, and Nadia noticed there was water in the tub. Now, she thought, that wasn't there before. Nadia tried to open the bathroom door, but it wouldn't budge. Then, something in the water started to move. Nadia turned around with tears streaming down her face. A creature with long black hair started to crawl out of the tub and towards Nadia. Nadia screamed and turned to bang on the door. Upon hearing Nadia's screams, everyone rushed up the stairs towards the bathroom and tried to open the door. The door was locked and was not budging. The screamed Nadia's name. Inside the bathroom Nadia was dragged to the ground and was fighting the creature the whole way down. The creature dragged her claws across Nadia's face and locked the blood off. Nadia screamed even louder as the creature ripped open her body from her belly to neck. The creature slices Nadia's neck with her claws, leaving her silent and dead. Outside the door, Ava and Sophie slid to the floor crying, for they knew that Nadia was dead. Suddenly, Zach's head is jerked back because the razor wire was now surrounding his neck. Screaming, everybody who was left ran away to find a place to hide. The thing with the red eyes laughed coldly as it separated Zach's head from his body with the razor wire. "You guys there has to be a way out" Sophie said, tears streaming down her face. "Maybe there is something Al didn't tell us. Something that can save us," said Ava. "What about salt, I read somewhere that it can't be crossed by evil creatures," said Aaron. Nodding, they all ventured down to the kitchen. They saw Zach's body on the way down, his head over by the front door. Ava cried and hurried away with the others. In the kitchen they were looking for some salt when suddenly, Sophie stopped. Everyone looked at her, Ava screamed and pointed at Sophie's stomach. There was a knife sticking out, just the tip of the blade was showing. Sophie fell to her knees and looked up at her friends. "Run" she whispers before the thing grabs the handle of the knife and yanked it up and out at her shoulder. Killing Sophie, for it had sliced her heart in half. Frozen with fear, the rest of the group stands there and watched. The clock starts to chime three and the thing quickly throws the knife. Aaron, Ava, and Aiden quickly scatter but Av wasn't quick enough for she ended up pinned to the wall with the knife in her throat. Only Aaron and Aiden survived that night.
