Dear Parents,
Your kid is crying out.
Don't you hear?
Do you not hear those cries in the middle of the night?
Do you not see that pain?
Marked so clearly on their faces,
Their actions,
Their skin.
Did they not make it clear?
You stand there disappointed about everything that your child has done.
You thought you did your best didn't you?
Ever thought that maybe we have feelings too?
Dreams?
Ambitions?
Maybe you should learn to listen.
To hear our cries.
Because we just want you to be happy.
We just want you to be proud.
We just want you to understand.
We just want to make sure you know we still exist.
Because that's how we feel we're not good enough for you.
And maybe if we just leave,
Maybe we will make you happy again,
Because you won't have to deal with us ever again.
