So there I was, laying on my bed with smeared mascara dripping down my cheeks. My irritated nose was constantly sniffling. My shallow breathing was inconsistent, and my arms were tightly wrapped around my waist like a constrictor suffocating their prey. My untangled, blonde hair covered my flushed face.
To sum it all up, I was a mess.
I heard a quiet knock.
"Cinderella, may I come in", asked a sweet, familiar voice.
I mumbled, "Yes."
I shifted around, feeling the soft, damp surface from underneath.
In came my Fairy Godmother. She was wearing her usual attire; a blue hooded cape with a fuchsia colored bow. Her wrinkled face carried a solemn expression as she glanced at me.
"My dear, what has you so down?"
"The prince. He hates me, Fairy Godmother."
She walked over to my bed and patted my head with reassurance, "Now, there, there. The prince doesn't hate you. He's your true love; your dream. Every couple gets into an argument, but that doesn't mean he hates you. The prophecy will surely not allow it."
I straightened my posture, and looked directly into her warm eyes.
"I went to the castle last week. Once he looked at my clothes, he said, 'How could the glorious, and beautiful girl I danced with at the ball be a gold-seeking peasant?' I got the message loud, and clear."
A salty tear escaped from my eye.
"What? Charming said that?"
I nodded my head.
"No, impossible", she chuckled, clearly not believing her.
"I'm not fibbing."
"You must be, because a dream is a wish your heart makes", she sang.
She grabbed my brush, and began to comb my unkempt hair.
"When you're fast asleep. In dreams you lose your heartaches. Whatever you wish for, you keep—"
I rolled my eyes, "Oh, the irony!"
"Have faith in your dreams and someday your rainbow will come smiling through. No matter how your heart is grieving. If you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true", she emphasized, while singing.
"Okay, I get what you're saying. Maybe, we'll work this out."
"Yes, you will. I guarantee it", she said while nodding her in enthusiasm.
She was wrong.
It has been 5 months since Prince Charming and I have made physical contact. And somewhere In between that time period, he got engaged.

Well? How was that for my first attempt?
