Chapter 2
I don't remember the time it happened but I must have passed out. I woke up to find all the lights out. The tv was black and the Wii was off. I looked around and tried to listen for rain. Was there a storm? I checked my phone. It told me it was 4 in the morning. My eyes felt droopy so I headed to bed. It seemed that just when I hit the pillow, my alarm went off and I had time traveled a whole hour into the future.
I sighed and hauled myself out of bed. My phone rang and it added to my agitation, even more so that it was Blaire.
"Have fun with your girlfriend?"
"My girlfriend? Oh. Wow, Patch. Jealous much?"
I rolled my eyes and put my phone on speaker then sat it on the bathroom counter.
"Well, it's a little obvious that Cyndie likes you, Blaire. We've had this conversation before and you always never seem to understand where I'm coming from." I squirted some tooth paste on my toothbrush and waited for her to respond. I heard a tapping noise through the speaker of my phone and instantly got pissed.
I'm not the clingy kind of boyfriend, I like my space and I like giving space, too. But there's just some things I can't take. Texting while talking on the phone with me, ignoring me, is one of those things.
I hung up and turned my phone on silent then continued with my morning ritual.
I was dressed and ready for school with a whole hour to spare before I needed to leave.
Bambi came through the front door with her blood red hair in a messy bun on top of her head and hello kitty pajamas on. She was a sight for sore eyes but she was still beautiful. I made sure to tell her every single day since our parents weren't here to boost her self esteem.
I stared at myself in the mirror. I noticed a zit on the side of my cheek and dark circles under my eyes. My dark hair wasn't shiny or nice, it was dull and shaggy all over my head. I shrugged and accepted it, pulling my favorite red beanie over my head.
Looks don't really mean anything to me. Blaire is gorgeous, of course. But will I tell her that? No. Why? Because she already knows it and the more people who say it, the bigger her head will get.
I'm not even sure how I landed a girl like Blaire. We've been friends since 3rd grade and a couple since 7th. I'm not even sure if I asked her out or if it just happened because everyone thought it was like that to begin with. In 4th grade our reading teacher asked Blaire what she wanted to do when she grew up. Blaire had hooked her arm in mine and said "I'm gonna marry Patrick." I suppose she was speaking the truth because we've been inseparable since we were kids. I do know that I love her but I'm starting to question what kind of love that is these days.
I slunk down on the floor in front of my bed and turned my xbox on. LoRay14 was online. The bastard who is always killing me on my game.
"Not today bro, not today." I said into my speaker. I know he heard me so he better be warned.
"Dude, you're gonna be late." Bambi came in my room and sat on my bed, poking my shoulder. It was still sore from where Blaire kicked me so I flinched right when LoRay went for the kill.
Game Over. Shit.
"You just got me killed." I looked up at her.
"Boo freakity hoo" she said like Dr. Evil from Austin Powers. I couldn't help but laugh. When she lifted her pinky finger to the side of her mouth, I almost busted a gut. My sister was a lunatic.
"Mind if we switch cars today?" She asked. "Mine's low on gas and the school is closer than work and I'll be late if I have to stop for gas."
"Why didn't you stop on your way home?" I squinted my eyes at her.
