Heating up and becoming unbearable
15, 14, 13
Cool Relief
5, 4, 3
Soaking Misery
When will it stop?
When the streets become creeks?
When creeks become rivers?
When rivers become lakes?
When lakes turn to oceans?
Oh when?
When will it end?
Reality is so surreal
A shadow on the cave walls
It’s hard to know what to believe
Even if it is your eyes that see
Pain, suffering, human misery
It brings out the best in us
We, by the thousands
Came out to help
Willingly, unquestioningly
To relieve our fellow man
We are Canadians!
We are Albertans!
We are Calgarians!
And it’s gonna take more than Hell
Or High water to stop us from helping
The show must go on
It must always go on.
Day 3: writing prompt was to write a poem in any style about or inspired by the recent flooding in Southern Alberta.
