Prologue

"Quick! Get him to safety!" a voice said urgently.

The streets of Haven City were littered with chaos. Families and villages all ran amuck when they heard that the king was assassinated; and were filled with fury when the news of the betrayal was brought to them. Queen Calloway had pierced a dagger through his heart in murderous rage at the fae kind. To the fae, she was nothing but scum; worst of the worst. They vowed never to remember her name in honor but in disgust and grief.

Vendors were furiously gathering their items while fae rummaged through their houses and grabbed essential items. Everyone was rushing towards the wilderness bordering the kingdom.

It was a fight to survive.

Many fae were running away to spare their lives and hoped a neighboring kingdom would graciously take them in. Most fled to the gnome kingdom. They were close allies to King Calloway and the fae hoped that they will still honor their promise. Otherwise the whole population would die a painful death and their whole kind would be wiped out forever.

It was a tragic day for the whole fae kingdom. King Calloway was brutally killed by the Elfin race in the bordering country Kalma'cht. The long peaceful alliance between the two kingdoms was nothing but a fraud. Kalma'cht's king- King Jarv'it- had planned the arranged marriage. It was a simple plan; yet one of the most effective plans yet. King Halloway's wife was picked to be wed to the fae king. King Jarv'it offered her a pricey amount of gold, and she immediately had agreed to his proposition.

How easily you can sway people and their judgements just by a small price of wealth. King Jarv'it sneered to himself.

King Jarv'it used wonderful husband and king. But alas, the years of his concentration on the fae had lead him astray. No longer were the Elf race joyously dancing in the streets nor did they sing alongside one another. King Jarv'it has neglected his duties as king and the people were paying for his ignorance.

He had also changed the ways of the once righteous family. His wife used to help the poor and heal the sick; now she used the money for jewelry and clothes. She cared more about her looks than her kingdom. His only son and daughter slept around with any elf and treated everyone like trash. They also squandered their allowances on drinks and rum. But no one could really blame them; their family was shattered into pieces.

The corners of his twitched into a cruel and calculating smile as the reports of the waging war flowed in. His viscous smirk widened into a disgusting, sadistic smile as he finally read the report he had been waiting for his whole entire life.

'The fae kingdom has been destroyed.'

He laughed maniacally as he danced around his study in joy. Never had he thought this would be possible. The fae kingdom was known for their great battle skills and was probably one of the strongest kingdoms in the realm. He called out to his closest subjects and family to tell them the wonderful news.

"Anne, my dear!" he called out in a sing song voice.

An Elf peered into his study. She was once a beautiful elf with silky chocolate brown locks of hair and gentle green eyes. With a soft aura around her, she was the most loved elf in the kingdom. Now, she was the most hated and her gentle green eyes no longer showed kindness and compassion; it held a sinister glint that could chill anyone to the core.

"Yes, my great King?" Anne sashayed in and smiled at her husband as she latched onto him; trying to create as much contact as she could.

The King absentmindedly trailed his fingers softly up and down ber arm. He smiled to himself as she purred under his touch. No matter what, the love bond between the two mates were strong; it was sadly the only thing left of their old selves.

"My dear, we did it! The fae no longer exist. Without their royal bloodline, the whole kingdom will crumble." he threw his head back and laughed with delight.

"Come, let's go celebrate." his wife tugged him out of the study and out to the Elvin kingdom to celebrate.

Neither of them had noticed the small report that laid under the massive pile of successful reports. Although it was small, it was greatly important; for it chose the very fate of the fading fae kingdom. On that very small slip of paper, were the words the great king feared deeply.

King Calloway's daughter has escaped....
