"Apologize, Chilled."
Mrs. Balogh waits patiently for theYear 8 to say the two words; "I'm sorry". "Ze was in my way! It's not my fault, Mrs. Balogh!" Chilled attempts to defend himselffrom the fact he kicked Ze 'accidentally'.
"Pfft. So I just happened to bekicked in the leg? Chilled, I thought we were buds.." Ze folds hisarms across his chest, slightly annoyed that his friend claims thathe didn't hit him. "You know what happens if you lie, Chilled, doyou?" Balogh reminds the nine year old. "I get a whack from thestick.." mumbles the boy, knowing that the truth will be out.
"So did you hit Ze? It's okay if itwas an accident."
All eyes are on him. Chilled slowlynods and he gives his friend a hug.
"I'm sorry Ze, for kicking you andlying about it. Forgive me?" Chilled, still having his armsembracing his best friend, asks with the teacher slightly smiling ather student's actions. "I accept your apology." Ze whispers, butloud enough for the teacher to hear it.
"C-Can you get off me?" Ze squirmsin the tight, squeezing grasp Chilled has him in. "Oh, yeah. Sorryabout that," Chilled smiles sheepishly at his friend.
Not wanting to destroy the moment,Balogh grins, "Chilled, you do know how to apologize and showaffection to a dear friend. How about today, you won't be punishedfor lying, but...the next time you do.."
As Balogh trails off with her sentence,Chilled gives her a thumbs up.
It's too easy to fool teachers as akid.

"I don't understand why we have to dothis." complains Chilled, who's now thirteen years old.
"If we want a good job for ourfuture, then we have to do this." replies Galm, working on theassigned project.
"When's the ceremony for Year 12's?"Ze asks.
"In almost 200 more days, but I thinkwe can survive this..I think." Smarty responds.
"Shut up, Smarty." Chilled mumbles.
Ze glances at Chilled, whose face wascovered with Galm's pillow of his friend's bed. "You sure are beinghelpful." Ze mutters, and Chilled hears what he said. "You're solucky there's no adults around you to scold you for your sarcastichumor." Chilled's voice is barely audible from a pillow smotheringhis face, but everyone knew what he said.
"I don't want to go to the ceremony."Smarty frowns. Galm stops cutting paper. Ze raises his eyebrows inconfusion. Chilled removes the pillow from his face.
"What? Smarty– man– everyone isexcited about the ceremony! You can't just say that out of context."Chilled throws his pillow at Smarty, thinking it'll knock some senseinto him. "I-I do have a reason," Smarty says with his friendswaiting for his excuse, "I don't like the fact that we'll split up,and we're forced to do our task or job."
"W-What are you talking about? We'llalways be friends..right?" Chilled looks at the faces of Galm andZe for reassurance. Galm nods, "We can try, and if we try, then wewill remain friends."
"Ze?"
His face is blank. He never reallythought about the possibility of them being separated. Now he'sscared. Now Ze understands why he's felt fear for the past weeks.
He's going to lose his best friends.
"Yeah, we'll always be friends." Zesays, trying to make it sound convincing.
But he didn't sound convinced. Zedidn't sound believable.
But his friends bought it.
They were going to be friends 'til theend of time.
