Chapter 3: Hard Work

  Tao's POV
I sighed, Kris left me alone in his office. I looked around. The floor was dirty, the cabinets were dusty and the desk was piled up with papers. I groaned and pulled out my phone. I stuck earbuds in my ears and turned up my music.

Then I started cleaning.

It took me at least 2 hours but I got the job done. I relaxed in Kris's chair before remembering the other jobs he had for me. I pulled out my phone and called the local Chinese place. I ordered Kris some dinner while looking through the cabinets for the files that had to be delivered.

"Okay you can pick up the order in an hour."

I hung up and grabbed the box of files. I shuffled through the folders and read the names.
"Namjoon...B284

Jin..B284

Amber....A384

Kyuhyun....B784

Krystal....A383."


I stood up and took a deep breath, "This won't be hard at all."

I raced down to the lobby and the secretary rolled her eyes, "Your an hour late. Here's your card."

She threw an I.D pass at me and I barely caught it. I sighed and started wandering around the huge building looking for the room numbers.

"Ah! B284." I said out loud to myself when I saw a name plate on a door.

Under the number B284 there were two names. Kim Namjoon and Kim Seokjin.

I opened the door to find a small room with coats and bags and a door slightly open leading into probably a bigger office.

I walked closer to the door and stopped when I heard voices.
"Baby that doesn't make sense. The value for these two companies rose by 27%, doesn't that mean it will keep rising."

"Joonie....what have I always told you. What goes up must come down and there are rumors about the CEO. It's not a safe investment."

I knocked on the door and opened it, walking in. I saw a blonde man sitting in a huge office chair with a broad shouldered black haired man in his lap.

"Hello, my name is Tao. Kris told me to deliver this to you."
I said while bowing.

The black haired man squealed, "Look how cute he is Namjoon!"

Namjoon rolled his eyes and mouthed a sorry to me, "Yea babe he's adorable."

I smiled a thank you and handed the folder to Namjoon.

The other man, Jin I guessed reached out and pinched my cheek, "Can I adopt you? Please Joonie? Can we keep him?"

Namjoon rolled his eyes, "Excuse my husband. Thanks Tao. I really needed these charts."

I walked away smiling as I heard Namjoon scold Jin, "Jin! 3 children is enough. You always complain how Jungkook drives you insane."

I hummed to myself as I headed for the next room.

"B784! I found you! You can't hide from me." I said softly.

I knocked on the door only to hear a loud snore. I slowly opened the door to find a man passed out on his desk. He snored loudly once more and I jumped, startled on how loud it was. I tiptoed to his desk and lifted his arm, sliding the folder underneath it. I stifled a scream as he snored louder and almost grabbed my arm. I quickly backed out of the room and headed to my other destinations.

One hour later:

I bowed, thanking the Chinese delivery guy. I checked my watch to see how much time I had left.
One hour.

I raced back to the top floor to Kris's office and placed the food on his now clean desk. I kicked my shoes off and placed them neatly against the couch. A small nap wouldn't hurt. Besides I was exhausted. I worked hard today.

Kris's POV

As the meeting droned on I could only focus on one thing.

I wonder what Tao is going to get me for dinner. Finally the meeting ended and I raced to me office. I smiled to see how neat and organized it was. He even organized my bookshelf and rearranged the books to be in height order.

I walked to my desk to find a bag of Takeout Chinese food!??
I scrunched my nose, this isn't my style.

I was about to yell for Tao when I saw him passed out on my couch. His eyes were shut and his eyelashes flickered every time he breathed.

Poor kid, he worked hard today. I pulled out chopsticks from the bag and started eating what he ordered. It wasn't bad to be honest.

A smile flickered on my face as I watched the young cute boy groan in his sleep and turn a bit.

I glanced at the clock to realize it was getting close to 11 O'Clock. I gently shook Tao awake and smiled when I saw him open his eyes slowly.

"Kris-ge what are you doing in my room?"

I chuckled, "Tao your in my office. Get up so you can go home. I'll pick you up tomorrow morning on my way to school. "

He nodded as he tried to get up. I caught him before he fell back down. I could see a faint blush appear on his face as he quickly walked out of my office room.

The ride back to Tao's house was silent and a bit awkward. He started playing with his fingers again and I couldn't help stare. He reminds me of my little niece. She would sit in her little princess car seat and play with her fingers while swinging her legs and humming something.

That's exactly what Tao was doing, except the swinging the legs part....and the princess car seat.

We stopped in front of a disgusting cheap looking apartment building and Tao got out.

"Remember, 6:30 sharp."
Tao nodded before bowing and heading into the building.
I sighed. It's been ages since I went to school and I wasn't eager to go back.


Tao's POV

I walked into my apartment to find my mom cooking something.

"Mom what are you doing, it's almost 11:30!"
She smiled, "I was expecting you to be hungry."

I groaned, "Mom I would have just skipped dinner and ate more in the morning."

My mom patted my cheek as she brought a plate of food to the couch, "That's not healthy Zi baby. Come on. Tell mom about your new job."

I explained how I worked for Kris and might be coming home late or not at all some days. How I had to accompany him at school and do what he says.
"Mom guess what! Subin says you can quit. She said if I took this job then you didn't have to worry about working for her. She said she'll take care of it."

My mom's eyes started tearing up. I quickly put down my plate and pulled her into a hug, "Mom...what's wrong."

"You gave up your teenage freedom...just so I didn't have to work."
I nodded, "It's nothing big mom. I want you to be healthy more then anything."

I wiped her tears and she stroked my cheek lovingly, "Zi I have to tell you something. But please don't over react. I...I've had heart failure in the past. But it was when you were little and dad was there. I went back to the doctors and they said I had to be careful because it might happen again at any time....and this time. I won't make it."

My eyes filled with tears as I hugged her tighter, "Mom...you won't leave me right?"

She rubbed my back, "No honey. Never. I'll always be with you. Even if it's not physically... I'll be in your heart."
