September 13, 1998 a beautiful 3 day old baby girl was found in a hotel: abandoned. The parents were nowhere to be found, the only thing this beautiful child had of them was a letter that went something like this:
"Dear baby girl,
I am sorry I left you by yourself but it is better this way, your daddy was my teacher, to be more exact he was my soccer coach, when I found out I was having you I was so excited. I may have just turned 18 but I knew I would be a good mom. The first thing I did was tell your dad. I thought he would be ecstatic. After all, he was like a kid himself - he was only 21 - but his reaction wasn't at all what I had hoped it would be. He begged me to rid of you, but I couldn't. I already loved you, but you see my mother disowned me after I told her about you and I knew I couldn't give you the life you deserved without your dad so I'm leaving you here where someone can find you, where you'll be safe, so I can start a good life for myself and maybe I'll eventually be able to come back to you. Never forget how much I love you and how badly I wanted to keep you. Forever yours, mom. Aurora Marie Johnson."
This letter haunted Sophie for the next sixteen years, bouncing from foster home to foster home holding on to the hope that her mother would really come back for her.
