The hairs on the back of my neck raised as the beats of my heart increased. Hidden behind the dumpster in an alley way, I watched as the shadows shifted to reveal an elderly woman, her eyes filled with rage. Her lips pursed into a straight line as she looked around her then, she walked away. Once she was out of view I let out the deep breath I had been holding.
Wiping the sweat from my brow, I re-applied my dark red lipstick and continued to walked down the street to my little house on the corner. Something about that woman had set me on edge. Her face sent shivers up my spine and her eyes held a haunting madness. It was, her small frame that held so much pride that put on edge. She had the walk of a woman gone mad, a woman on a mission.
Reluctantly, I opened the door to my house only to come face to face with my angel. He entwined his hand with me and led to me to the bedroom upstairs. Once we were done, we lay between the sheets, listening to each others heartbeats and our breathing returned to normal. Then, he stood up, placed a hundred dollar bill on the dresser and walked out, slamming the door ever so gently on his way out.

The following morning, I woke up bleary eyed, hungry and cold. After taking a much deserved bubble bath, I headed down to the salon to 'refresh' my image. On the way I purchased a hot dog from a vendor near the park. I was too busy munching down the food that I did not notice the trashcan in the middle of the sidewalk and I, ungraciously, tripped over. Slamming my eyes closed as I prepared myself for the impact, I was pleasantly surprised as two, muscled arms wrapped around my waist and placed me gently on my feet.
I took as step back from my mysterious saviour and muttered a grateful,"Thanks."
"Your welcome," he responded in a delicious tone that reminded me of melted chocolate. "Hey uhm, your Hayley, right? My name is Jason."
"Pleasure to meet you. Uhm, how did you know my name?" I asked as a frown crossed my face.
"Uhm, my mom owns the beauty salon down the road. I have seen you there before," he said, as a light blush danced on his cheeks. "Hey I know this is rather sudden but, would you mind having dinner with me tonight." I could ask my step-dad for tonight off...
"Sure, why not?" I responded as a grin spread across my lips.
"Cool so I'll pick you up at seven?"
"How about I meet you outside the park?" I asked in a hesitant voice.
"Perfect. Oh and wear your dancing shoes." With that he walked off, leaving me on the sidewalk, smiling to myself like a fool.
