"You said only my ex-teammates, Loki."
"Yes, but in order to take complete power, we will need to show the nine realms that we are not afraid to-"
"Commit mass genocide? Yeah. I didn't sign up for this." I push away from the wall, uncrossing my arms as I head towards the balcony.
The sun is just beginning to set, but everyone's still up and working, children running around in their fancy godly attire with large swords instead of sticks.
"That is the only way to reach our goal, Genevieve," Loki says, resting his arms on the railing and keeps his eyes on the horizon. "We will be unstoppable. Invincible. Just think about it."
One measly life won't matter. But there's more than one life at risk. He's talking about killing hundred. Thousands. Millions, even. Even so, I turn to him and hold out a hand.
"You're got yourself a deal, partner. So, what's the game plan?"
_____Right. The plan. So Loki's not only crazy, he's also resourceful. The necklace he gave me is some sort of charm, hiding my true appearance to those I wish to not be seen by.
It's pretty, though, so I'm not complaining.
"But you forgot one thing," I say, patting down my pants, thankful to be out of that horrible robe. "My powers. They'll know it's me."
He holds up a finger, closes his hand and opens it with a ring in his palm. He motions for me to come closer, and when I do, he slips it on my middle finger.
"There."
I furrow my brows, not getting what he's saying. "There? Another piece of magic jewelry? So, what, does this give me super strength?"
He shakes his head. "Just do what you normally do when you conjure your powers."
I shrug, back away, and clench my fists. The original yellow glow from my palms is no longer there, replaced by green flames. I jump, loosing my footing and bump into a statue beside me.
When I reach for it, green sparks shoot out from my hand, hitting the statue and it instantly disappears.
"Holy-"
Loki waves a hand and a replica of the statue materializes back in its place. "Now," he says. "We must train you."
I groan. "Train? Why can't you just, I don't know, program the ring to know what it's doing already? Like autopilot?"
"If it were only that easy, Genevieve."
