Hello, my names Jay Mattawa, 4th year Gryffindor. I have brown out-of-control curly waist length hair. Pretty normal, right? Well that's what everyone thinks until they see my eyes, they're a shocking light purple, almost gray. I take pride in my eyes, though.
Usually, as OWLs coming around next year, I would spend a few hours in the library each week to get ready. Not this week.
No, this week, lets just say... the Yule ball has affects on everyone. Well anyone from forth years up, unless you've been asked by one of us, you can't go. I'm also pretty sure you can't go without a date...
Unfortunately, all my roommates, all pretty girly-girls, are dressing me up this week. As you can, probably tell, I am not in anyway excited. I'm not one for dressing up, one could presume.
They also got me a date with one of those Drumstrang douches. Not looking forward. I was hoping someone else would ask me... but he's going with Lavender Brown.
So sitting in my dorm, on my bed, Hermione and me pouting at all the pink they show us. Elle, Lana, Jenna and Blake all decided to get ready somewhere else. Unknown of course. About forty-five minutes later, everyone looks beautiful, even I can admit that I looked way better than before. Makeup can do wonders. I took a few minutes more to waste time, I didn't want to see... what's his name? Nikolai? Yes. Nikolai. I did happen to leave before Hermione though. She looked gorgeous.
As I entered the Yule ball I saw Nikolai immediately rush over to me. Also I heard quite a few gasps, I had gone though some big changes.
Nikolai, offer some punch like a gentleman. How nice. But I could see him eying someone across the room. Lavender, fricken Brown. She just takes everything from me, doesn't she?
Yeah, that's right bitch, I see you dancing with Seamus. Godric, I've been seeing Elle way too much. Pssh, they used to call me innocent.
Speaking of Elle, I looked around the room, immediately spotting her and Fred Weasley in an awkward hold, at arms length, just looking at their feet.
I had to fix that.
"Nikolai, do you mind if we move behind them? There's a little favor I must do for friend."
"For a friend? Well of course!" I guess he's not so douchy then.
So we positioned ourselves, my back behind Fred. Pushing lightly against him he moved closer to Elle. Quickly their awkward dance turned into a romantic hold. Oops?
Quickly though I saw Hermione stomp away from a distressed looking Ron. That little- quickly I said sorry to Nikolai, gave him a peck on the cheek, and told him to try and dance with Lavender. I then proceeded to run, well, scurry off, to where Hermione went.
The rest of the night went unknown, though I did happen to cheer up Hermione. And there was a rumor that Nikolai and Lavender woke up in a bush, a few detentions from Madam Maxine had been arranged. Better than Snape.
No matter what we say, I can assure you, there was drama at the Yule ball. But people were telling me, if I had stayed longer, I would have noticed Seamus staring at me the whole time. Rumor has it, but can we always trust rumors?

Rumor has it
Short StoryWhat happens at the Yule ball, well rumor has it, drama follows romance. Btw, I don't own Harry Potter, meaning I'm not J.K. Rowling. And I won't make any profits from this little thing.
