"Breezepaw, Blackpaw, Lavenderpaw!"
The cats in the clearing continued yowling the names of the new apprentices contently, for with greenleaf nearly coming to and end, more workers around camp would keep Riverclan together during the harsh leafbare. Lightstar looked over his clan with pride, with Tallhawk just as satisfied as he was. Breezepaw sat by her littermates, peering around to see every cat in the clearing. Raincloud and Quailfeather looked more proud than ever, and not too far away Breezepaw could have sworn Streamfang actually looked satisfied.
Once the new apprentice felt she's seen every face in the clearing, Breezepaw finally glanced forward to see Lightstar. Looks like I was right about being made apprentice soon, she thought, flicking her tail satisfyingly. Lightstar nodded to the three apprentices proudly. Soon, the clan broke apart, the sun still high in the sky.
Breezepaw turned to Lavenderpaw. "This is so great!" she purred.
Before Lavenderpaw could respond, Bluecreek padded beside her. "Are you ready to become a medicine cat apprentice?" She challenged, almost interrogating her new apprentice. All cats expected for Lavenderpaw to become a medicine cat; she was constantly helping her out, and in the medicine cat's old age, she was more than ready to take on an apprentice. Lavenderpaw mewed, nodding her head.
Blackpaw's mentor, Ottersky, padded beside him. Her sleek, brown fur glowed under the sunlight. "How are you feeling?" She asked. "I remember I was terrified on my first day."
"Not me!" Blackpaw mewed, puffing out his chest proudly. "I'm going to be the most fearless warrior in Riverclan!"
"We'll see if you feel that way once I'm through with you," she mrowed darkly, her face no longer cheerful, but cunning, and for a moment Blackpaw's eyes were as wide as a trout's. Breezepaw and Lavenderpaw glanced at each other, purring.
A large brown pelt stood beside Breezepaw, and suddenly she remembered it wasn't just Blackpaw and Lavenderpaw who had gotten mentors. Her eyes sparkled as she looked up to see the large, scarred brown tabby tom sitting beside her. Mottlescar was one of the toughest warriors in Riverclan. It was only proven legitimately when the last leader, Owlstar, gave him the name "scar" from his three-way scar over his blue eye. Bluecreek had no idea how he could still even see from the right eye, and all cats had feared the tom ever since.
His dull, blue eyes looked down onto Breezepaw, then he looked up to Ottersky. "Shall we tour the territory together with our apprentices, Ottersky?" he meowed, but his voice was thick enough to be taken as a growl.
The brown she-cat nodded curtly. "That sounds excellent." Breezepaw and Blackpaw looked at each enthusiastically, already thinking about how much more fun their first days would be together.
Lavenderpaw looked up to Bluecreek, her eyes sparkling. "Could we join them, Bluecreek...? Please?"
Bluecreek shook her head. "No, dear. We're going to be looking for herbs, which go as far at the Twolegplace. We would only slow down your siblings."
Lavenderpaw's shoulders drooped pitifully. Breezepaw got up and padded her, ears forward. Sitting beside her sister, Blackpaw soon sat on the other side of his sibling. "We can talk about our experiences at the end of the day," Breezepaw mewed, curling her tail around Lavenderpaw. Blackpaw nodded in agreement.
"Alright," Lavenderpaw huffed, glancing at both of her siblings. With a wary glance from Bluecreek, the apprentice brightened up a bit. "You better tell me everything! I want to see how different a medicine cat apprentice really is from a warrior apprentice. Alright?"
"Alright!"
"I don't think I can keep this up..."
