"Wow, you know that's the third time this week Laura." The owner Mel taunted her as she walked back out to the bar after Rocky left. She knew how many times he had came in through the last week, and she made sure every time his face appeared that she would duck and run before he saw her. She'd ask Mel to serve him, and make sure to tell him she wasn't there. What would she say to him anyways? How would she explain it to him? She couldn't.
"Yea, I guess." Her reply was soft. Its not like she could explain anything to Mel even as close as they got she couldn't risk it. She didn't want anyone to know anything about her.
"You cant hide from him forever you know." She informed.
"I know, I know its just... Forget it." She trailed off, she didn't even have any free thoughts they were all surrounded by Rocky. She tried to tell herself she didn't miss him, but she really did. Here she was lonely with a broken heart. This was the reason she didn't want to get close to anybody, because she knew if she did it would end up causing pain, and it did. At least she stopped what had started with Rocky before it turned into something more, ending with even harder heart break.
"I just don't get it, he is really hot, like if I wasn't 50 years old and married I would totally get me a piece of that." Mel slyly admitted. Laura tried not to laugh but the giggles got the best of her. She only laughed a little until the thought of Rocky returned to her brain.
"Its not that I think he's not attractive, he is very, very hot...and funny, and sweet, and not really like any guy I've ever met." Without realizing it she was gawking over all the little details she loved about him. She tried to forgot those details so she could forget him, but there was no luck.
"You knew all of that from serving him once?" Mel asked confused.
"Um...well last week I kind of saw him and we talked a bunch, we had lunch, and we even went swimming."
"Did you have fun?"
"Well yea I had lots of fun. It was the most fun I'd had in a very long time. He made me feel so...special." She was indulging again, she was going to have to stop that if she were ever to get over him.
"It seems like you really care about him, and by the look in his eye I see every time I tell him you're 'unavailable' I can tell he really cares about you too. Why cant you just let him in."
"Its complicated." Laura muttered.
"Is it about a previous relationship? Are you scared?" Mel asked.
"No, its not that." Laura lied. "I barely know the guy."
"Well you could get to know him."
"Would you just drop it?" Laura defended. She didn't want to talk about Rocky, it hurt enough without constantly talking about him.
"Okay." Mel smiled lightly. She shuffled back to the small kitchen, and brought back a pizza. The bar also did pizza delivery. "Can you take this to this address." Mel said handing Laura a box with a green slip of paper with an address on it. "The fresh air will do you good."
