Meeting and Greeting

Chapter 1

50 years to this day, the 10th of September, I was changed by master Aro. I was changed laying in an alley after being brutally raped, and left to die. He found me bleeding and approached, resisting to hunt. It was then that he looked into my eyes and saw something that could help him and his coven. It was on that day, 3 days before my human birthday, I knew I would not see my friends or family ever again. It's been exactly 50 years since my transformation. I was 17 nearly 18 and will stay that age till I die. It only took 22 hours to complete my transformation. Aro, Marcus, and Caius knew then that I would be special. Little did they know just how special. 16 years ago, I, Isabella Marie Swan-Volturi, was crowned as the Volturi princess because of my power or should I say powers? I guess Aro, Marcus and Caius were right, I am special or powerful as they had predicted. I have the gift of controlling a physical and mental shield.

I can do many things with this shield I can raise and lower it. As well as put my physical shield around any object or person like a bubble and move them around, or shrink it until the object inside turns to ash. This allows me to have the ability to shrink a whole mass of people to ash all at once, easily killing an army without lifting a finger. I also utilise my mental shield to protect my coven from opponents gifts. With this power, I easily became Aro's favourite, my gift became stronger as the years past.

It wasn't until a few years later that I discovered I had a second gift. I worked really hard to figure out how to use this gift. So after hard practice I found out my second gift was the gift to copy someone's power, or as they refer to it as a sponge. As soon as I look into a vampire, or humans eyes I gain their gift, or future gift (in the case of a human). When I get this gift I get all the information on how it works, and what it's weaknesses are as well as what it's strengths are. This information processes through my head in within a few second so if I am in battle with large numbers it can be distracting for a short amount of time. One of my very few weaknesses, as Aro would say. Hence the need for my masters to devise a distraction such as talking or sending others into battle first to protect me whilst I process the oppositions abilities.

I have collected approximately 150 gifts. These vary from telekinesis to cloning, or even to controlling the elements. I have gained most of these gifts during battle or from the many visitors (both vampire and human) of the Volturi.

Being the Volturi Princess I am very well known in the vampire world and not many people dare to pick a fight with me. Most wouldn't recognise me if they passed me in the street but the rumours and stories were enough to leave any vampire quaking with fear. I never leave the castle unless attending Volturi business and so many are not familiar with my appearance, and I like keeping it that way. Even though I eat animals and most people think "vegetarians" are weak, I'm most definitely not 'weak'. When I use my gifts it does not drain power out of me when I am on an animal diet, unlike when I ate humans, it actually gives me more power. Aro believes this is because I am an empath, and that when I touch humans I read every thought they ever had, and this seemed to put me in a depressive like state when I hunted.

Aro noticed and suggested the animal diet, I immediately jumped at the opportunity. I have been a 'vegetarian' for over 40 years now. My favourite animal to hunt would have to be deer though grizzly is not far behind. Talking about hunting, I believe it's about time for another trip. I wonder when the masters are feeding next, I'll probably go then so I avoid hearing the screams.

I love my life here in Volterra, Italy. We live underneath the clock tower, or the palazzo dei priori as the locals call it. My masters have lived down here away from humans for centuries. Apart from their 'meals' or humans which get brought down here, thinking that they are on a tour only to die. I call it the 'tour of death' or the 'tour della morte'. Caius is always asking me to join him and his guard along with Aro, Marcus, Aro's wife Sulpicicia, and his wife Athendora in their meal time but I always decline. I'd hate to take another innocent humans life, especially since I know how bad the guilt effects my mental state. Aro has helped me try to explain it to him but Caius is still convinced that if I drank human blood it would improve my abilities even more.
