She, was a mirror of me
That is, if the mirror didn't reflectAnd showed an image of empty similarity
For she is water and I'm molten earth
She, was a lake full of electric eels
I, was a mountain with a fire inside
You'll never know how it feelsTo explode, fall, and be cooled and charged at the same time
I'm loud as pressure builds
And my insides spillInto the water and on surrounding fields
She takes it all in with a subtle "splash"
Followed by murdering silence
An eternity is how long it lasts
When you can't leave
From the part that feels the sunI hear nothing from this lake
But the part that sunkFeels the shock, hidden from the surface
That part's ears tune inIt's learning the way the lake speaksIn that maddening silent way she does
I've realized that a splash is a scream and silence is a whisper.
