In its cage it sits
On its swing it chirps
Days and nights pass
Sorrowful songs it sings
"What wrong did I do
To live between bars"
"How long will I stay
Before I return to the skies"
"Will I ever be free
Of this cage that they call home?"
"Will I ever be
Able to return home?"
And as these thoughts flick by
In her little head
The doors of the cage open
And she flies and takes of ahead
"Spread your wings and fly little bird
I'll never be able to keep you
For you always prefer your freedom
Over dying between these bars"
"Will I ever gain my freedom
Just like I gave you yours?"
"Will I ever be granted this wish
To return to everything I know?"
