When I awoke it was dark. Pitch black. The light had automatically turned off after sensing no movement and the TV was still on, talking about racing cars. Feeling my way around the room, I searched for the light switch. Just when I was about to switch the light on, I heard footsteps above me, walking from my parents bedroom and down the stairs. I froze stiff. What in the world is going on? There should be no one expect me in the house. Wait maybe my parents came back. No that can't be, otherwise they would have woken me up. Could it seriously be a.........

The wooden staircase creaked and moaned under the pressure. He was right behind the wall. Thinking fast I desperately grabbed for something to use as a weapon in the darkness, flicked the lights on and flung open the door. I swung down my arm with all the strength I had. There was no impact. No one was there. A sense of déjà vu came to me. I looked down to see if something had fallen instead-. It was a small Japanese doll crafted skilfully. Its head, body, arms, legs and face looked exactly like a humans. I stared at the doll's face which smiled eternally. It looked alive.
Getting freaked out, I placed it behind the empty shoe racks where it was out of my sight. Then I noticed the object I had grabbed. It was one of the transformer figures my little brother was given to as a birthday present. Feeling like a fool, I searched the whole house from top to bottom, now re-equipped with a base-ball bat and a cutlery knife I got from the kitchen. I found no sign of anyone in the house and concluded that it was just my imagination. Maybe I was watching too many horror movies.
