Chapter 1

Amy's (POV)

It was the last day of school before the summer holidays, i was trying to be positive but whats the point in going in today if all we was going to do was watch movies or just go on our phones. I was just heading back towards the kitchen as it was my turn to feed the horses in the morning while Georgie has to clean the stables out when we get back from school, Georgie starts my school after the summer holidays but for now she is still in lower school so i have to drive her there and then make my way to the hell hole.

When i walked into the house i walk straight into the kitchen to see that Georgie was already up so I don't have to wake her up for once "oh wow your awake, i'm shocked" I joke grabbing an apple

"very funny i was woken up by someones alarm clock and then a loud crashing sound" she says glaring at me

"Weird you must be hearing things" i just laugh it off and get my car keys, just then mum walks into the kitchen "oh Amy no training after school i have to work on Natalie's horse, is that okay?" she asks while pouring coffee into her cup

"that's fine, ill ask Soraya if she wants to go on  hack later on, come on Georgie we have to go" i grab my bag and we both get in the car, the car journey was just Georgie talking about the new horse Phoenix that showed up by our stables

"you can't get attached to him, we are looking for his owners remember" i remind her while pulling up outside her school

"I know but what if they don't come for him, then we can keep him right?" she asks with hopeful eyes

"talk to mum about it, ill pick you up after so wait for me here" she just nods her head and runs over to her friends. it doesn't take long for me to get to Arrowhead high School, i hate this place but all i had to think was it was the last day for summer so it will go over fast, i quickly gather my stuff and walk into the school while looking at my sheets of paper that i have to give to my teacher but suddenly i felt like i bumped into a brick wall and i fell backwards onto my bum "shit" i mutter

"i'm so sorry, i wasn't paying attention" i say grabbing my stuff and getting up looking into very angry green eyes, well shit i had to bump into Ty the bad boy of the school

"you best be, watch where your going next time" he nearly shouts trying to keep his anger down

"well maybe you could just walk around me instead of walking into me" i say back, then realizing what i just said to him but he doesn't say anything back and just walks away, i thought i saw a small smirk when he walked away but i think it was my brain playing tricks, just then Soraya comes running up to me

"girl do you have a death wish" she whispers to me while pulling me to our first class "it seems so" i say while being dragged to maths for our first lesson. the lesson just dragged on for 2 hours we didn't do much but watch The Avengers and then after that we made our way to art to do another 2 hours but instead we could do anything we wanted but had to go with art, so i just drew my horse Spartan, when it was time for lunch i was nearly jumping for joy i was so hungry, we get in the line and got pizza and sat outside since it was warm out and got the normal table we always go to.

"so i'm not training Spartan because mum has to work with one of the horses but i was wondering if you wanted to go on a hack with me?" i ask while eating the pizza

"i cant I've promised my mum i would go out on the family meal but could you make sure Promise gets some exercise, since she got a day off yesterday" i just nod my head while i sallow the pizza

"sure ill ask Georgie to ride her for you, i know she will love any excuse to ride" i say

"don't look now but Bad boy, is looking at you" Soraya says making me choke a bit on my food

"do you think he is planning my death" i whisper making her laugh "stop laughing i might die soon, i talked back no one talks back to him" i add throwing away the rest of my food

"he wont kill you, you're worrying over nothing" she says then adds "but anyway if your going on the hack by yourself make sure you don't get lost remember last time" she laughs nearly falling off the bench

"it wasn't that funny!" i laugh with her anyway lets go to our last lesson so we can get this day over with" i add picking my bag up and walking to our last lesson which so happens to be Drama the most boring lesson ever.

*****Three Hours Later*****

it is 6:30pm when i  tack Spartan up and was heading out on the hack just as Georgie was getting off Promise "if you wait for a bit i can tack up Copper and come with you" she says stopping next to me

"no, that's okay you go have your dinner, i know you haven't had anything yet" i put swing my leg over on the saddle and sit down "but thanks for offering, ill see you later" i add making Spartan walk forward and towards the town. when i finally get there, i just wonder about for a bit stopping to say hi to a few of the locals. The town is small so everyone knows each other.

I look at the time and realise I've been out longer then I intended to so I start to head back. I try to take as many shortcuts as I can, I finally get to the heartland lane and I canter down on the grass halfway to the house I slow down to a trot and then a walk to cool down.

I get off by the barn and as I'm about to walk in my mum steps out of the barn "Amy! Do you know what time it is?!" She exclaims

I look down at my watch "8:40" I answer

"You do realise you have training tomorrow morning and I've asked you yesterday to try to tidy up the barn for the new worker tomorrow!" She stressed

"I thought we was getting a range hand to help clean the barn?"

"Don't be smart with me young lady! Take care of Spartan and then go get some leftovers from dinner" she signs and walks back into her office

I walk Spartan into his stable and quickly untack him and give him a groom over. I had over to the feeds, I put some apples and carrots in each feed bucket and then I put them in each stable while saying goodnight to each horse. "Mum I've fed the horses I'm going to get something to eat.. can you take the buckets out the stable?" I shout but didn't wait for an answer and just jogged back to the house

I throw my boots off and head towards the microwave getting out the leftover pasta and got some water from the tap. Georgie comes running into the kitchen once I sit down "Mum said we can keep Phoenix if the owners don't turn up" she says excitedly

"How did you get her to agree?" I ask generally interested as when she last asked Mum was not happy with the idea at all saying we had too many horses as it is

"I told her that he loves jumping so If we kept him I would enter him into shows and even do that training schedule that you do"

"Do you realise you will have to practice nearly everyday and it's not easy" I say worried that she's going to take on too much

"I've been thinking a lot about it and I really want to do it" she smiles "well I'm going to bed as I'm getting up early for Phoenix" she grins

"Okay goodnight" I reply while putting my dishes in the sink and heading to my bedroom to get change, I pick out a pair of shorts with horse shoes printed all over and a white tank top. I head to the bathroom to brush my teeth and then head back to bed, I put my alarm on for 7am already knowing tomorrow was going to be a long day.
