"I'm jealous because I care."
Imagine Owen, your partner, getting jealous when a co-worker flirts with you.
_______Work had been grafting today and you were beat. With an exasperated huff, you wiped your hands in your jeans and rose from your knees before wiping your brow.
"You did great today, y/n," Mark suddenly commented, traipsing over to you as you stared dumbfounded as to where he'd come from.
"Thanks?" You shuffled with a slight laugh, picking up your back pack from the floor and slinging it across your shoulder before making your way out of the contained area.
You heard his footsteps follow, a slight jog to keep up with you before he appeared in front of you. You furrowed your eyebrow as you slightly stopped, Mark slowing down also as he walked backwards.
"You've got a real way with the dinosaurs, they love you," he genuinely replied to which you smiled fondly, "perhaps you could teach me?"
"Yeah, sometime," you assured him kindly, "I've just got to get back, I'm knackered-"
"-Then let me buy you a drink," he quickly interrupted, flashing his gleaming white teeth, "it'll help, come on y/n, it's on me."
You frowned, you really wanted to go home, dive into your bed and snuggle up to Owen- who you'd need to remind to take a bath first. But he wouldn't be home till late anyhow, so what was the harm in a drink with a friend?
"Shoot, go for it," you sighed with a smile, "but only one drink, you hear me Mark?" You lightly joked as he nodded affirmatively, placing his arm around your shoulder as he guided the way to the bar, inside the main compound of the island.
When you got to the bar, it was relatively quiet with most tourists having gone to their hotel rooms to catch an early night for the exciting day ahead. You relished in the quiet nights, so kindly obliging Mark's offer to sit down anywhere, you chose the furthest table as he ordered your drinks.
Tapping your fingers on the table, you slightly winced as you gazed down at your scarred left thigh. That baby triceratops had caught you, the cheeky little thing. You shook your head with a smile, it was a harmless youngster but you'd still have to tend to that later with ointment so it wouldn't get infected.
"Here you go," Mark's voice rang through your ears as he smiled and placed the cups down onto the table, sitting opposite you. You thanked him before taking a sip, the alcoholic substance slightly burning as it gushed down your throat.
You grimaced, "I didn't know they were this strong," you chuckled awkwardly.
"We are on an island of dinosaurs, isn't everything a little stronger than it's supposed to be?" He laughed as you nodded with a grin.
"I suppose."
Owen finished work early that night, the raptors having been more co-operative allowing him an extra few hours off shift. Excited to see you after such a long day, he sped on his motorcycle to your shack -as you had called it- but only to find you weren't home.
Slightly confused at first at the acknowledgement you never worked on late with the young dinosaurs as they adored their nights sleep, he climbed back onto his motorcycle and sped back to the main section of the island, slightly apprehensive as paranoia slowly crept up on him like the lurking darkness of the late night.
What if something happened? What if there was an accident & no one told him? What if you were in the infirmary? This was so out of character for you.
The heavy weight of paranoia urged him to the infirmary first to soothe the looming prospect of you being hurt, but only to find you weren't there. He then checked the tourist information centre and the late running stores only to find you were nowhere to be found.
Slightly agitated and paranoid he couldn't found you nowhere, it slowly finally dawned on him.
Mark.
Clenching his jaw, he stormed his way to the bar with the defiant thought that Mark had stolen you again like the weasel he was. Much to his suspicions, he was proven right when his eyesight landed on Mark and you perched at the furthest table.
Drawing in a deep breath to remain calm, he made his way to you nonchalantly before your eyes lit up at the sight of him, "Owen-"
"-Hey doll," he interrupted sweetly as he abruptly turned to Mark, quickly drawing his first back before instantly slamming it in Marks face.
You stared in shock as Owen took your hand for you to rise to your feet, you following helplessly as you stared at Mark who wiped at his bloody nose with a wince before Owen growled, "think twice about stealing my girlfriend next time, pal," before leading you out of the pub and outside.
"What do you feel like having for tea then-" he asked as he threw you a spare helmet but not before you suddenly interrupted Owen as the shock drifted, "-no, what in the Hell was that?" you questioned in slight anger.
He paused as he sat on his motorcycle, "what in the Hell was that? He stole my girl, and it's not the first time," he nonchalantly replied, staring at you as you stood.
"I'm not one of your raptors, Owen. He just wanted a drink-" you protested, "he's completely harmless."
"Y/n," his voice grew serious as he stood up from his motorcycle, "he's been after you since the day you first came to this island," he stood in front of you, his height towering over you, "and us being together won't stop him from trying to win you."
"It isn't a competition if I'm already yours, you dork," you grumbled, slightly amused by his jealousy. "But still you didn't have to punch him, that was completely unnecessary."
He smirked to himself, feeling rather proud, "but I did."
You stared at him in disbelief for a moment, before the amusement took over and you reached up to kiss him, wrapping your arms around his neck.
"However, jealousy does look cute on you," you laughed gently, resting your forehead against his.
"I'm always cute," he retorted before crashing his lips back onto yours.
