The day for Dylan's fashion show arrived. I was honestly thrilled to see what he had been working on, and whether I'd ever shop for his clothes. A guy with good taste in clothes was a good thing. I'd use it to my advantage and I think Dylan would as well.
So when he had UPS deliver a box with a question mark printed on top with red marker, I was anxious to open it. He said I wasn't supposed to take a peek until the day of the fashion show. So I waited a whole week, and now here we were.
I grinned and opened the box. Then I pulled back the white paper and gasped in delight. I held up the dress and my face broke into a grin. It was white, with sheer over the skirt. There was a white underskirt under the translucent fabric, and there was a big black bow fastened around the waist. It was sleeveless too, and the edges of the white color was decorated with pearls and silver diamonds. Inside the box were black, leather ankle boots. I stood up from my bed and walked over to my mirror. Then I pressed the dress against my body and smiled. Dylan was honestly the best.
Someone rang the doorbell. I set the dress down on the bed and hurried through the apartment. I opened the door and found Brendon standing there. He noticed my wild eyes and immediately frowned. "Is something wrong?"
"No, I'm just hyped up," I said. "Come in." I stepped to the side and closed the door behind him. Then I walked towards my kitchen and pulled out the ingredients for a bagel sandwich. "You hungry?"
"Yea."
I popped a bagel into the toaster and then leaned against the counter. Brendon sat down on the metal stool and looked at me from across. I grabbed my phone from beside my arm and sent a quick text to Dylan.
Me: I'm in love. You shouldn't have wasted money on me for such a lovely dress. Thank you!
Once I sent the text I immediately began to cut slices of cheese and chicken, which may have seemed a little odd for a bagel sandwich, but experimenting with food lead me to interesting new recipes.
"What made you drop by?" I asked Brendon, who was picking at the chicken strips. He got up and walked around the counter and reached over my head to grab a glass from the cupboard. Then he walked towards the fridge behind me and poured himself something to drink.
"You know, just checking up on you." He glanced at the clock. "It's pretty late to still be in your pajamas." He glanced at my oversized sweatshirt. "Dylan sleeping in?"
"He's not here, he had some stuff to prepare for." I began to cut some bell peppers and then set everything to the side and pushed my cutting board away. "Are you here to check in on me, or to check if my boyfriend spent the night?"
"Hasn't he already?" Brendon sat back down on the stool. "I'm not trying to judge but-he's a fashion designer. For women."
"So?"
"So...I mean I'm not saying he is-but doesn't he act almost as girly as you."
I glared at him. "Are you calling my boyfriend gay?"
He shrugged. "I'm just saying. I have nothing against him designing clothes for men, but for the opposite sex, I'm skeptic. Besides, there's something about him."
"Such as?" I took the bagels out of the toaster and then began to load one with cheese, chicken, and bell peppers. I glanced at Brendon, daring him to say something. I put my bagel in the microwave and let the cheese melt.
"I get the feeling he doesn't like me being friends with you. Or he just doesn't like me."
"Well maybe if you stopped criticizing him for being a fashion designer for women, he might tolerate you!" I threw my hands up in the air and pushed Brendon's bagel towards him. "If you came here to criticize me about my choice of a boyfriend, then please leave." I set my hands down on the counter, staring down at the floor. I was having a really good day and he was going to screw it up by giving me bullshit. Not. Happening.
